Thanks for the reply but i dont think your attachment worked, either that or the NHS firewall on the computer im accessing it from has blocked it. I am really looking forward to your software when it is ready to release, it is just what mce has been waiting for.

    Thanks again

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

    David,

I only attached the image. I would need to send you a video file and the graph as .grf files require the source video file to load....

I am just about getting there with the alpha version and adverts are being stripped. The application is being tested with feeds from the US / UK / Australia and Germany with test advert positions.

I can only do full testing on uk dvr-ms files (i.e real processing of adverts).

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

    Hi Charles,

As for working together I am only working on the Media Center UI itself, I'm really not an expert on the conversion part, although I started playing out with Graphedit and managed to use AutoDVRconvert with the Graphs I made and exported to different formats. AutoDVRconvert is really capable of converting any format to every other format FOR WHICH THE USER HAS THE RIGHT GRAPHS AND DECODERS/ENCODERS (!).

But Heimiko should really comment on the AutoDVRconvert part, he really knows how it works

    Cheers,

    Danee

Oh, and about the image in the post above: It will show only on your system, it references a local path

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

Ah ha....yes the image refers to my d drive...!!! Thanks danee....

p.s. I expect coding the MCE interface is much harder !!

The graph image is now given as an attachment......

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

    hey guys,

i totally love using this program, it's the only conversion program i've gotten to actually work.  i convert them into wmv.

however, one thing i'd like to do is have the converted file be a lot smaller than the original dvr-ms file.  22 minutes of tv (after commercial editing) is about 1 gig.  i'd like to have it be around 250-350 mb.

do you guys know of any ways to make this file smaller?

    Thanks,  Ryan

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

    @ojnotmilk:

Yes, there's a way, it'll become available in the next release (1.3)
Right now, there's not any way of making those files smaller with AutoDVRconvert itself (only solution for now is to re-compress the output).

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

    Hi Pierre,

Yes, an MCE UI is on it's way. In it you will see a list of your recordings and you will be able to make a selection to convert immediately AND there will be the opportunity to set 'rules' where it will automatically convert the recordings matching the criteria (scheduled).

At this time I cannot give you an expected release date, but I will post some screen shots in the coming days on my website.

    Cheers,

    Danee

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

Yes GraphRenderer is the APP. I am stripping commercials out OK and am now testing conversion to XVid by automating AutoGK. Any comments on the other thread if possible.

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

I've been following this thread closely. Charlie, I think you're creating a fantastic app.

I was thrilled that you're attempting to skip the commercials. I was wondering if there is already an application that automatically removes the commercials, but doesn't convert it into any other kind of format but keeps it as dvr-ms. That way I can still watch the program within the TV section of Media Center.

If there is no such application, might I suggest (along with all the other suggestions that you get) that you create a feature in this application that allows you to automatically strip the commercials away and recodes it back into dvr-ms and deletes the original dvr-ms file that has the commercials. Sort of like a DVR-MS to DVR-MS tool.

    What do you think?

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

It is an idea and is possible........ I'm afraid its not a priority at the moment but I do understand your need. If the time comes and all calms down with the current converter I may well look into it......

The commercial skipping application only reads MPEG streams thus I would have to convert to MPEG and then via some thing called a stream buffer convert back to DVR-MS......

RE: NEW: Automated DVR-MS to MPG conversion utility!

I love this program and it is great. However, whenever I want to output to a WMV file, the program says that it cannot open WMV Output.XGR. I have changed the output file extension to WMV and applied the changes when selectign the graph. Nonetheless, it is giving me this error message. Any suggestions??? Thanks.
