    Boxerboys,

I had the HD Homerun software installed but uninstalled it because I thought it caused the problem.

There also appears to be two types of issue - some people can't watch HD/encrypted content at all (like me) and others can do but then it stops at 10pm each evening.

Have you tried stopping and starting the Media Center Receiver Service?

I am wondering if someone hit the nail on the head with SP1.  Has anyone not experiencing the problem got the SP1 from earlier download rather than from windows update.

Finally another thought.  IS there anyone out there who does not have the problem who has vmcNetflix installed?

#1. I got it working last night around 8pm and left media center open all night. It was still working this morning.

#2. Is there anything other than Media Center than can use the cablecard/tuner to watch TV?

I am not having the problem and I have vmcNetflix. I also manually installed SP1. I have a friend in town with the exact setup I do (we got our XPS 420s the same week), same cable provider, and even the same channel lineup.. and he is having the problem every evening. The only difference in our setups is our Displays (we both run HDMI with same video card though). He also has that iTunes plugin and I don't. Other than that.. identical.

Neither of us see an ATI related update in our Windows Update history.

I installed SP1 by downloading it from technet, am running the netflix plugin and it's happening as well.  I don't believe it's related to how you installed SP1.

    IS everyone running Defender?

Re: ALERT: *Micorosoft Windows Update* ATI - Streaming Media Broadcast Devices - ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Turner

ok, in thinking about this a little more I have the following thoughts.

    1) This oocurs usually at the same time every night but at different times for everyone.  Mine goes out about 8:10 which coincidentally or not is the same time I initially installed the cablecards with comcast.

This implies to me that each day the cable card tuner goes out onto the internet to validate itself and the machine it is on and it does that based on the time it was installed.

    2) Stopping and restarting the receiver service removes the content restricted message.

This implies to me that the Windows Media Center Receiver Service has lost the ability to communicate with the tuners. This would also explain why I have problems taking control of the tuners when I try to watch tv on a third extender.  Once the tuner has gone out and reverified itself the Media center receiver is unaware of this sees a failure and blocks the content.  stopping and restarting it enables it to communicate with the tuners and know that now everything is ok and it allows the content again.

So in summary something has caused the receiver service to fail in its communications with the tuners.

Is there a general Microsoft Support email addy we should all tag about this? So, one location is getting hit over and over on the same thing.

This is the best theory I've seen come about.  Odd thing is my system stops at 10:00pm, and I'm pretty sure the FIOS rep was not here that late for the install.
