    Re: Incorrect Duration Times Issue

We do have a fix for incorrect duration times in the next Windows Media Center Cumulative Update.  While I cannot provide exact date, I can let you know that we are looking at weeks now as long as there are no last minute hiccups in the process.

    Freakin' awesome!

I've installed it. I'll let everyone know if it fixes my problem with HDHomerun tuners.

This update does not solve the incorrect time issue!

The only thing that solves this problem is TV pack but is so buggy with lots of other things. Till TV Pack is "bug free" I can live with this problem.

    Pino -

Can you provide info on your configuration and when you are seeing this?  What type of tuner?  What type of broadcast - over the air, analog cable, digital cable, satellite, set-top box?  Was this on content recorded since applying the updates or on content previously recorded?

I have 4 hauppauge pvr-150 MCE tuners with vista drivers.

I have Analog cable from UPC Netherlands

    No settopbox

The incorrect time issue I'm having only appears when recording 2 shows in a row on the same channel with extra 15 minutes recording time.

The first show is fine but the second show shows incorrect time. This day the second show's duration I (test) recorded should be 45 minutes but the timeline says 22 minutes.

So the same problem before and after the update. I had TV Pack installed for a month and the problem was gone but too many other problem showed up so I went back to Vista without TV Pack and ran into this problem again.

Why does TV pack solve it but this update not?

I can also confirm that the problem still exists for me. I applied the updates on Saturday (10/18) and use an HDHomeRun tuner for OTA. Sunday night (10/19) a new recording had the incorrect time duration problem.

    Re: Incorrect Duration Times Issue

Thanks for the additional information.  We'll see if we can get this reproduced and investigated.  The fix included in the latest updates addresses the scenario we were able to reproduce - it is possible that there are related scenarios not covered by this fix.

    Re: Incorrect Duration Times Issue

I'm using VMC and TV Pack with Cox analog cable (no set-top box).  One PVR-250 tuner, and one A180 (ClearQAM) tuner.  Infrequently (but 3 different times now), I've had a recording show a duration of "0:01" and all navigation buttons do nothing -- the only option is to watch the recoding from begining to end.

    Anyone else seen this?

    Re: Incorrect Duration Times Issue

I'm still seeing the issue after installing the update. I'm using an HDHomerun tuner. The issue occurs when recordings are back to back on the same channel. The second show will have the incorrect duration, which is usually 9 minutes for an hour show.

Does anyone know settings that will correct this? I have my shows set to record 4 mins before/after. Maybe changing the first show to not record 4 mins after, and the second show to not record 4 mins before, for back to back shows.

Same scenario here. My duration, however is seven minutes.

My recording time is two minutes before.

We are also still having this issue after installing the update.

    Details:

    • Tuner:  PVR-250
    • Number of tuners: Only one actual Media Center tuner, but we simultaneously record our HD channels using the addin FireSTB (although FireSTB was not running when Law & Order was recorded).
    • Driver for PVR-250:  Automatically detected and installed by Vista
    • Type: Bell ExpressVu STB, s-video connection to the tuner card
    • When:  Yesterday, a couple of days after installing the update
    • OS:  Vista SP1, fully updated with all critical and recommended updates (including KB955519)
    • Hardware:  See signature below, note FireSTB is not being used to produce the problem recordings, in fact all dvr-ms files created by FireSTB do not have this issue.
    • Resultant dvr-ms file:  Law & Order- Special Victims Unit_CIVTDT_22_10_2008_01_02_01.dvr-ms
    • Reported recording length:  8 minutes 24 seconds
    • Actual length:  1:00:58 (repaired using FixDVRMSDuration.exe)
    • File size:  2.26 GB
    • Previous recording dvr-ms file: Fringe_KCPQDT_22_10_2008_00_00_01.dvr-ms
    • Reporded and actual length for Fringe is the same:  1:01:58
    • File size for Fringe:  2.30 GB
    • Odd behaviour:  The recording prior to Law & Order recorded an extra 2 minutes of padding.  This means that Law & Order was recorded directly after Fringe and even though the log doesn't say it started late, it actually missed the first 2 minutes of the show for some reason.
    • Other:  over the past few days Media Center has been recording alot (20+ recordings).  Most of the recordings are spaced out with a non-recording period between them.  The only ones with a problem are recorded directly after another recording finishes.

    Re: Incorrect Duration Times Issue

The problem seems fixed for me.

I have VMC with no TV Pack and the HDHomerun. I installed the update last on Tuesday October 14. Wednesdays were when it was the worst because I had one channel that recorded 3 hours straight and one that recorded 2 shows straight. I always had 3 shows that were "8 minutes" in length.

After the update, I haven't experienced this in any of my recordings.

One note though, I updated the HDHomerun at the same time.

    Re: Incorrect Duration Times Issue

I also updated my HDHomerun at the same time, but I still see the problem.
