Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.28R1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/3/2008)
OK...this is weird. I'd been having random probs with the plugin and I decided to try installing SP1 to see if it might help on some of the IE related issues.
Well, after I did that I no longer had vmcNetflix on my online program menu. Note that at the time I had Beta 1.0.28R1 installed. So the first thing I did was uninstall the plugin, and then reinstall Beta 1.0.28R2. It still didn't show up, after restarting VMC. I tried the uninstall / reinstall again and then rebooted the PC.
Still no vmcNetflix! Any ideas what is going on? I saw some mention of others running SP1 with no problems, so I hesitate to say that's it. However, I haven't made any other changes to the PC since the plugin was last available on my list of programs.

SP1 installed here and the latest plugin with no significant problems other than the typical occasional reinits needed to play.
When you uninstalled, did you completely uninstall by manually deleting all the folders the plugin installs that the Vista uninstall doesn't delete. There's instructions for a complete manual uninstall on the download page for the program.
You might check the registry to make sure all references to the program are gone as well.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.28R1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/3/2008)
As suggested, definitely follow the install/uninstall procedures. I was having all sorts problems, but after uninstalling VMC completely, making IE7 my default and reinstalling, VMC works without a hitch.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.28R1 w/ Vista Extender Support (7/3/2008)
I am having the EXACT same problem as Blacksand. What was odd with mine was that the thumbnail for vmcNetflix was showing up on my 360 Extender, but NOT on my PC. I can browse titles from Extender, but I cannot play streaming video without being able to first run the program on my PC.

Re: Program is still gone!
affeking:Thanks guys for the suggestion. I went ahead and did the manual uninstall - the program data and registry keys still existed so I deleted them.
Unfortunately, after a fresh install, I still do not see vmcNetflix in my plugin list! This is very disappointing and frustrating.
Any other thoughts?
One thing that got me one time was that in Online Media->Program Library, the programs can be filtered ('Program by Name', 'TV & Movies', 'Games', ...) - make sure you are looking under 'Program by Name' otherwise it won't show up.

Netflix subscription with one license
Hi,
I love vmcNetFlix when its working... I have the 1 at-a-time (Unlimited) plan with unlimited time to watch instantly. I am finding that vmcNetFlix is tying up my only license, and I have to wait several hours for the stream to "time out". (This is what NetFlix customer support told me.)
Here's my latest example. I logged in to NetFlix and started up an episode of the office from my web browser. I hit the "Back to Browsing" button to release my license. I uninstalled 28R1 and verified that the directories and registry entries were deleted. (complete uninstall) I installed 28r2 and cleared cache and initialized movie player from my PC. I swear that after I cleared my cache and then initialized the movie player that I heard a few seconds of the opening theme of 2001 space odyssey. Without trying to watch a show in vmcNetFlix I open my browser and try to watch something from within the browser, and I get a web popup telling me that my license is in use. So to me, it seems that when I initialized the movie player, it started to stream 2001 Space Odyssey. That shouldn't happen, right?
Also, on the remote or VMC interface, what is the equivalent to the "Back to Browsing" button? If I start a movie that I don't like, I would like to be able to stop the movie and start another one without having to wait for the stream to finish.
Thanks. I sincerely appreciate your work on this. "Release Candidate" status may be a bit premature... :) :) :)

Re: Program is still gone!
Nope, that wasn't it :( I actually checked each catagory individually in addition to the full list. No dice!

The current initialization scheme does in fact use 2001... however, in the future the initialization should be quite a bit less problematic. That being said, starting a movie and not finishing it will still be a problem. It is on our TODO list though. Cheers, -ac.

Do you have the same problem when you play a movie using the plugin ... try pressing Stop and select Done after the movie starts, then see if you have the same issue. I believe when initializing it terminates (kills) the browser. Slightly different if you stop the movie in the plugin.
I don't have the 1-disc plan, but I do stop and start the movies all the time in the plugin.

I've found the plugin SOOO much more trouble free (on the one at a time plan) if you download the movies in your Instant Queue in advance. Fewer license issues for some reasons, none of the player-crashes-if-you-ffwd-or-rwd problems, and of course playback starts up much quicker.
You have to do a little planning in advance, but if you've bothered putting it in your queue, you're halfway there anyways. You can still browse and play streaming if you get the urge for something you haven't thought of in advance.
Give it a try and see if you have less problems.

I had this last week. After numerous initializations I called their "help desk". I was told that if the stream is terminated without a "stop" being sent in it hangs the Netflix stream in an open position. Since they only allow one watch now at a time that stream must run it's course before a new video can be played. BTW, I have the one disk plan and now have no problems since I don't kill a vid without stopping it. I recommend being methodical in how you stop the movies and try to avoid switching back and forth from VMC to browser just because. I was doing just that when it happened to me....

Re: Netflix subscription with one license
First of all - THANK YOU. This is a wonderful plug in and I appreciate your tireless work to fix/patch and update this gem!
Second, I installed the newest version and everything runs smoothly until I actually go to watch a movie. I can watch on-line using their player but the extender won't function. I can log in, browse my que, select a film, but when I hit PLAY I get a black screen and the spinning blue wheel. I can even see the total run time...but no actual movie.
Any suggestions?
(and THANKS again!)
