Re: video library app for viewing videos/movies and tv episodes with metadata

Jack, I have tested with v1.25 and have had more films get the metadata, the Hitman problem is now solved and another of the previously not working was South Park - Bigger, Longer & Uncut I read on the TMDB forum it was a problem with the ampersands so it seems that is working now!

I am however still having issues with the following files:

    Buffalo '66.avi/Buffalo 66.avi
    Cube.avi
    Cube Zero.avi
    Electroma.avi
    Employee Of The Month.avi
    Free Enterprise.avi
Gonzo - The Life And Work Of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.avi
    How To Rob A Bank.avi
    Kalifornia.avi
    My Name Is Bruce.avi
Once Upon A Time In America.avi
    Pushing Tin.avi
    Rubber Johnny.avi

As I said in my previous post all these files cause the "Media Center Extensibility Host Has Stopped Working" error to pop up then once hit cancel on that box the VMC style error box with "Program Not Responding - The video library program has stoppe responding and you will be returned to Windows Media Center." The Following also comes up sometimes when clicking cancel on the first error:
    GDI+ Windows: exexhost.exe - Application Error
The exception unknown software exception (0x0000409) occurred in the application at location 0x7f8e8299

I am testing files one by one, With all the files listed above will crash out the extensibility host and create metadata but load fine after that.

The following are the ones with multiple possible titles but crash out every time I load so cannot select the correct title:

    Cube.avi
    Employee Of The Month.avi
Once Upon A Time In America.avi

Also would there be a way of identifying if a movie is HD or not? Have it display next to the year/runtime, even if it had to be manually entered into the metadata something like <IsHD>true</IsHD> then show the little HD logo that is in the TV pack or just has HD after it, I know you have a list of stuff to do as long as your arm so I don't mean to add more work for ya!

    Edit:

I am downloading the metadata for the 1978 version of Dawn Of The Dead automatically and I cant seem to find the option to select new meta data (for the 2004 version) you could maby add this to the >>| menu where you select the view?

    Deadbunny,

I just thought I'd throw my 2c in.  I had an issue with some not downloading the data correctly (didn't cause a crash, but not sure if that's an x64 vs x86 thing) and found that it was mostly a lack of data on tmdb.  I added the data on tmdb and they then downloaded fine.  I had a quick look through the list, and each of those listed appears to be missing something (a few with no Genre, and that specifically the issue I was having)...  The other thing that appeared to be common was they were missing data, or they were missing the picture...

    Cheers,

what do you do about combined episodes.  Like the pilot had episode 1 and 2 in the same file.  I use S01E0102.  it doesnt work

I use avisplitter and cut the file in half, or a manually edit the XML file after it's auto downloaded, and fill in the description of both, and change the Episode name. (filename wise, I simply call it episode 1..)

Re: video library app for viewing videos/movies and tv episodes with metadata

Ah, I hadn't thought of it being caused by missing data, I just assumed it would be filled in blank in the xml. As for the covers it only seems to grab them if there is a high res version so I've been adding all the poster/cover art manually. As for the crashes I am on x64 so that may come into it with the extensibility host crapping out when it finds a lack of data.

Re: video library app for viewing videos/movies and tv episodes with metadata

deadbunny can you confirm only one instance of videolibrary is showing up in add/remove programs? The only data-related crash I am aware of is missing genres or missing director/producer/actor/writer. this was fixed in 1.25.

As far as teh gradual slowness is concerned, this may be related to the bullcrap polling/re-acquiring i have to do to deal with the *(@&#(*@#(& TV Pack.

Update: I've just tried each of those movies you listed that had multiple options and did not get any crashes. The info was downloaded fine in each case.

Re: video library app for viewing videos/movies and tv episodes with metadata

Jack, I can confirm there is only one instance installed and it is 1.25 x64. I have just noticed that occasional when having these crashes it pops up saying "Data Execution Prevention has closed the Windows extensibility host" unfortunately none of these crashes are generating error reports that may be helpful.

Also are there other ways of sorting the files? for example I have the Alien Quadrilogy in a sub folder in my films directory and they are listed out of order and I can't work out any other way of listing them other than Title, I've tried YearMade and BroadcastFirstAired but neither change the sort order.

    Jack -

Great application, thank you.  Issue: Pointer gets stuck on main selection screen at 0 out of X shows.  When using a remote you can no longer select a TV show.  Only way to get working again is to use mouse.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled, always stuck on 0 out of X and can't use remote.

I tried this on my extender and it says that no video folder is configured.  It works fine on the desktop, just not the extender.  Can anyone assist?

Does the extender get its own username?  Should i just add it to the /ProgramData/videolibrary folder?

Re: video library app for viewing videos/movies and tv episodes with metadata

    deadbunny,

The dawn of the dead problem should have never occured. If there are more than 1 match for the exact same title, it should have enabled "Find Movie Info". I have found and corrected the glitch that was causing this: basically one of the search results had an extra space in it.

Also, there is a <IsHDContent> tag in the file already. When I have time I will look into displaying the HD logo based on this tag

Re: video library app for viewing videos/movies and tv episodes with metadata

I have this problem as well.

I have 20+ TV series in banner mode. The grid is 4x9.

The first 3 colums cannot be navigated by the arrows on the keyboard or the arrows on the remote. They can be navigated by the mouse.

This is a new error that I recevied in 1.25. I have not been using the software since about a year ago. This is my retry.

Re: video library app for viewing videos/movies and tv episodes with metadata

    Also...

For movies is it possible to have an image hierarchy?

I have covers for 80% of the movies I have.

I would like to display the cover for those that exist but default back to thumb if the cover does not exist.

The covers do not seem to download if a hi-res version does not exist.
