Re: AVerMedia released AVerTV Combo PCI-E x1TV Tuner (Analog and ATSC/QAM Ready)
Looks like I'm the odd ball here. I receive an AWESOME SD picture from the Aver card. My HTPC has replaced my Tivo. I have comcast with no amplifier and I don't use a cable box. From the Wall I split my cable connection into Three runs. 1) Goes directly to my TV (Toshiba Regza 42" LCD) and the other Two runs go into the Aver Card. I don't have an HD box or antenna. My SD through my HTPC is better than SD on the TV from the QAM Tuner.
Here's my specs: Windows Vista 4 GB RAM MSI 8600 GTS Diamond Plus Running Nvidia 172.25 drivers
Output of video is directly from the GTS HDMI port plugged into HDMI tv port.

Re: AVerMedia released AVerTV Combo PCI-E x1TV Tuner (Analog and ATSC/QAM Ready)
I just bought my 2nd M780 card. But I really don't relish going through the whole channel guide/mapping process again. Yet, when I added my second card, it didn't automatically link itself to my first M780 card. And WMC prompted me to setup a new tuner. So, this is not a simple "plug-and-play" operation, apparently.
This is discouraging, because as soon as I setup a new tuner, I know all the work I did to get clear QAM working and stable on my system will have gone to crap and I'll have to spend a few hours re-doing everything (once again).
Any advise?
Thanks, Jon

Joe Hendrix:So, the only clear qam you receive are the HD stations?
Over clear QAM I get 3 or 4 SD pay-per-view preview channles, my local PBS in SD, and my local CBS, ABC, NBC and PBS in HD. The PBS in SD looks decent over QAM, much better than it's analog counterpart.

Joe Hendrix:So, the only clear qam you receive are the HD stations?
I get one SD channel after the QAM scan (University of Texas channel which I removed), and 6 HD channels - 4 networks HD, 1 pbs HD, and one local weather HD channel. These are the only channels that I get via QAM.
I wish I could get the SD channels using QAM. Still waiting on the IRC scan to implemented by AverMedia for the QAM tool.
I am a Time Warner customer in Austin, using a signal booster and I am positive that signal strength is not the issue.

I think I could have phrased this better: I have a completely setup and mapped Aver Combo PCI-e card in my system. I've just bought a second, idendical Aver PCI-e card and installed it. The system drivers automatically installed, but WMC wants to "setup the tuner" and go through the entire tuner setup routine. But I don't want that because it's already setup for the 1st tuner. I just want the two to be 'linked' as a dual-tuner setup with the same channel guide config I have now. Anything I can do to avoid going through the tuner wizard, that will likely destroy all my clear-QAM settings and mappings? Thanks, Jon

Me too. SD rocks on this card, much better than using the built in tuner on my tv, which i never use anymore. I also got rid of my cable box. This card and VMC are an all inclusive solution for me. I plan to get a second M780 one of these days.

And this is using the analog input or are you getting your SD digitally over QAM?

Re: AVerMedia released AVerTV Combo PCI-E x1TV Tuner (Analog and ATSC/QAM Ready)
Yup using the analog input. I don't get much SD over QAM, just the local channels (which I already get in HD). Analog SD works great on this card, much better than any of the previous TV tuner cards I have owned over the years.
There are a lot of variables as to why this may be, I suspect it has something to do with the signal path coming into the SD cable input of this card. But I don't really know. All I know is it looks better than the SD tuner signal on my Sony HDTV, so i use this card for all my TV viewing and recording through VMC.

Re: AVerMedia released AVerTV Combo PCI-E x1TV Tuner (Analog and ATSC/QAM Ready)
njmadwi:
I have the same issue as ivhjr with my HP m9100z Vista Home Premium x64 with the AverTV card and also get the APC_Index_Mismatch. The BSOD started right after I installed the AverTV card. I tried a reinstall of Windows, searched for updated drivers (which there aren't any that i can find) and i'm still getting the error, both before and after Vista SP1. Any solutions for this one?
I too get APC_INDEX_MISMATCH when I go to Live TV after a resume from standby, S1 or S3. Latest Nvidia drivers, latest WindowsUpdate M780 drivers. I'd really like this computer to go into standby to save power.
Vista Ultimate 32 SP1 Dual M780s Nvidia 9700 GT
I was also having problems with the digital tuners failing quite frequently and requiring a restart. The way I solved it was to replace psisdecd.dll and Mpeg2Data.ax with versions from MCE2005. After this, I have had no digital tuning problems. In fact, I can tune all channels listed on http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/channels.

Will the addition of QAM support in M$ Media TV pack (formerly Fiji) eliminate the need for this beta driver?

Re: AVerMedia released AVerTV Combo PCI-E x1TV Tuner (Analog and ATSC/QAM Ready)
I am using Version 2.5.0.27 of the drivers I installed from Microsoft update. I assume that from here on Aver will be distributing their updates through MSFT except for some "want to test it?" beta versions.
When is this MSFT media tv pack supposed to be released?

Re: AVerMedia released AVerTV Combo PCI-E x1TV Tuner (Analog and ATSC/QAM Ready)
I have the same problem as well...APC_INDEX_MISMATCH...upon s3 sleep resume. I have had this problem since i've had this AverTV Combo PCI-e. I have re-installed vista 32 bit and same problem exists. This is the only problem I have with all hardware or software. Does it have something to do with "privjob or another driver, or is it hardware related? I somehow think it's the tuner card and not media center, but maybe i'm wrong. I also notice that if I open media center, play live tv, then sleep and resume, TV will work. However, if I restart computer, sleep before opening media center, computer will crash with APC error. Just some stuff I've noticed over the last year...same problem. presslab: njmadwi:

Re: AVerMedia released AVerTV Combo PCI-E x1TV Tuner (Analog and ATSC/QAM Ready)
Can this be used to record 2 analog channels? Eg: Channel 5 on one tuner and Channel 6 on another?

As long as you are not trying to watch a 3rd analog channel at the same time.

Re: AVerMedia released AVerTV Combo PCI-E x1TV Tuner (Analog and ATSC/QAM Ready)
Cowboy:As long as you are not trying to watch a 3rd analog channel at the same time.
Not with one M780 installed. You can watch or record one analog channel while simultaneously watching or recording one HDTV channel, but you can't watch or record two analog channels at the same time nor watch or record two HDTV channels at the same time unless you have two M780's installed in your machine.
If you have two M780's installed then yes you could watch one analog channel while recording a second analog channel, or watch one HDTV channel while recording a second analog HDTV channel.
