I can't pin down the exact cause, but more often than not the UI becomes 'jumpy' or slow on me, even when there is no media playing.  It's not unresponsive, it's more that the graphics do not flow like they should.  I can solve this easily by restoring/maximizing Media Center.  The interesting thing here is that when the UI is hosed, my first attempt to restore the window ALWAYS fails -- the button clicks, but nothing happens.  The second click to restore works, and the UI flows smoothly and normally again.  This did not happen prior to TV pack.

    djp952:

Just a note to let you know I have seen this behavior several times even without TV Pack 2008 installed.  I do not think this symptom is new to the update.  I have no clue as to the cause, but as you noted, the fix is easy.

The only thing with the TV Pack that has been bothering me is, everytime I enter the guide, I can hear my cpu fan ramp all the way up, then the guide freezes for about 5-7 seconds.  For this reason alone I may wipe it out and re-install everything.

I dont know if this is a TvPack bug or if it was there previously, but here goes my description

You're watching TV. You go to the guide. Go back to TV. Then go to sleep for the night.

Awake the next morning and VMC goes to the last viewed screen other than live TV, so it powers up on the guide.

If you use the arrow keys and move through the listings, the description of the program in the lower left corner stays stuck on whatever it was the night before.

Thats a bug in TV Pack - if you dismiss the guide and bring it back, its all back to normal (i.e. press the guide button twice). Its been fixed in the next version.

    Mike,

    Next Version?

    What? When?

Also, I would add this as a bug:

DVR-MS files no longer show thumbnails.  The Non-TV Pack would show thumbnails of almost all file types, AVI WMV etc.  So, even though DVR-MS is no longer the file format for recording, the DVR-MS files should still get thumbnails like other supported file formats.

I have quite a few DVR-MS files that I had backed up to my WHS before I did the clean install and TV Pack setup. Those files show thumbnails just fine on my system. Weird how it works on some systems and not others...

I have a load of DVR-MS files on my WHS and TV Pack does NOT show thumbnails for them.

But my biggest problem with TV Pack (the hacked for H.264 version) is that ehrecvr.exe sometimes hogs 50% of my quad core CPU renderring the system very unresponsive.

Sorry, I had inserted a link in that post which disappeared somehow (probably a mistake on my part). This is the link:

SWEET, I can't wait!!  While we don't know exactly what the individual fixes are yet, I'm really glad to see that Microsoft is still willing to throw some patches our way prior to Windows 7.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed from now until Tuesday :-)

Wondering what the fixes are in this, are they just for Restricted Content or are they "bug fixes" for the tv pack ? I see KB956147 but, cant see the list of fixes for it. Or is this a "wait till Tuesday" thing ?

Anyone else notice a problem with OTA subchannels in tv pack?  I have a channel 58.1, 58.2 and 58.3  when I select 58.2 in the guide.. it seems to just tune to 58.1 .. in order to fix it I have to select 58.1 then back to 58.2 to tune the right channel in..

That has happened to me a couple times with one weak OTA channel.  I thought it was an HDHomeRun glitch, as it stopped happening with the latest firmware update from them.  Same exact symptom, though, 4.1 tuned 4.3 instead, retuning was fine.

Thanks.. Although in my case 58 is a strong signal somewhere about 89-95% on a different tv and all green bars in Media Center..  maybe there is a driver issue that tv pack introduced... will have to see if there is updated software.. and hopefully if it's MS fault they'll fix in tuesday patch.

Look closely... the non-TV-Pack patch is way bigger (12MB) than the TV-Pack patch (2MB)... Could this mean that the TV Pack will be applied to everybody?

I uninstalled the TV Pack because of my disappearing scheduled recordings. Anyway, I will probably reinstall it tomorrow to check if the patch solves it.
