Ever since this update.. after i stopped watching a video (DivX) and it returns to the blue screen with done, restart, resume etc, it restarts on its own a minute or so afterwards. It also restarts on its own if i minimize media center and start another app.

didnt notice anything it added or improved, though im sure it probably did.

Very annoying problem it introduced though.

Tim, it seems many of the issues caused by this update don't actually generate error reports - they just cause annoying niggly behaviours, which might explain why you don't see a large volume of related error reports.

When I have this update installed when I pause a tv show and minimize the VMC UI it unpauses the video which is pretty annoying. Likewise, when I use the mouse the playback controls stay on the screen and don't go away.

There are other issues I had with this update but I don't remember most as I installed it 2 months ago, encountered several issues and then uninstalled. I reinstalled yesterday in the hope the issues had been resolved, but they're still there so I have uninstalled again. Would appreciate some investigation on this.

I can also confirm that this update causes the following annoyances.

    1. if you pause video playback in VMC, it will unpasuse when you minimize.
    2. video playback will start over if you minimize VMC while playing it (notibaly in tvtonic)
    3. after playback is done you will goto a blue screen and have to click back to get out of it
4 after playback is done and you wait, and you have a screensavor turn on, the playback will restart.

My system is the HP Z545 running Vista Ultimate w/ 2GB RAM, and replaced the Hard Drive with a WD 1TB ,and removed VGA port to mount a eSATA to run an external 1TB drive.  All other equipment is factory.

Hopefully these issues will be addressed by a new update.

Re: Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows Vista (KB950126) is now available

Something else i noticed a few weeks ago was a very annoying issue. Ive got Nvidia 8600GT Silent installed, so ive used the resize desktop feature in the driver settings. Ive ensured that its pixel perfect fit both horizontal and vertical. What i see is occassional screen shift by about 3 or 4 pixels. It shifts vertically and horizontallly by this amount intermittently, resulting in the edges of the app, desktop and taskbar being trimmed. It also displays this behavior in the VMC UI, although it seems stable when playing media in full screen in VMC. Im guessing it started about the same time as the videos restarting themselves, this leads me to suspect that it was introduced with this update. I hadnt updated Nvid driver for a while and had been happily running their beta driver which resolved the DivX stuttering issue. I did an update to the driver onto the PhysX supported driver (very latest version) and this didnt correct this strange behavior. Would be interested to know if anybody else has seen this prob?

I will uninstall the update when i have more time and see if this is the guilty party and report back.

Can anyone give us a response on the issues raised in this thread which seem to be directly associated with this update?

I have uninstalled the update but generally prefer to have the latest updates installed, particularly to get rid of annoying updates messages and it seems these problems should be addressed either way.

There was an issue introduced in KB950126.  While the underlying issue is a single issue, there can be various behaviors where this issue is exposed - moving from full screen to widowed mode, pause/resume behaviors, etc.  This issue is addressed in an upcoming Windows Media Center Cumulative Update.
