RE: DVi -> HDMI cable wont wake screen

    Hi ALL.

I have a Connect3d (ATI) 9250, and purchased a DVI to component adapter.

Catalyst 5.11 (available through Connect3d's web site) & 5.13 (From ATI's) do not actually give me 1080i support in the display managers item in Advanced mode.  I do get to select "Add 1080i support" in the Monitorsitem, but, it never shows up as an item in the force button pulldown list.

Any chance this is related to the issue this thread is discussing?

My thought was that the 9250 just doesn't offer 1080i support, but, connect3d's support staff said it will if I have the correct drivers.

Anyone in the forum have this same mix working?

RE: DVi -> HDMI cable wont wake screen

Personally speaking, I don't think they are related in any way.  This thread is talking about the HDMI port of your HDTV not regaining focus (or waking up) after changing inputs.  As far as I know, this problem still has not been resolved in any driver updates from ATI, and a lot of people just went to Nvidia cards (e.g 6600 model) to get a working solution.  Good luck getting your problem corrected!

FYI, the latest Catalyst Drivers, version 6.1, released 1/18/06, finally fix this bug. I can finally upgrade from 5.6!

RE: DVi -> HDMI cable wont wake screen

    YIEHAAAA - works here too!

Man I can't wait until I get to tell my wife that she is able to use our mediacenter with the plasma as a ordinary TV without having to worry about turning on the Plasma Screen before turning on the PC - and without having to disconnect the cable and reconnect again if the signal is gone...

It's gonna be an awesome night

I've upgraded to a new media center, stupidly put an ati x1300 in it and this old problem has come back with Catalyst 7.2 & Viata 32-bit - i feel like i'm going backwards!

    Anyone else finding this?

Re: RE: DVi -> HDMI cable wont wake screen

Well I just upgraded from Catalyst 7.1 to 7.2 in hopes that I would find a remedy to my problem, but no success.

My problem is that I have my MCE PC running through my receiver which has built-in 1080P HDMI switching.  I used to have it plugged in directly to the HDTV via HDMI which had no problems when I switched inputs as the picture would come right back up again with the proper resolutions and everything when I switched back.  Long story short, I had to plug the PC into my receiver now cuz my standalone DVD player didn't like going through the switcher, so I had to plug in the DVD player into the TV HDMI port the PC was occupying.  Now when I switch inputs on my receiver, the computer shuts off that display and it does not come back on when I switch back.  It seems that the TV supplies constant low level power through its HDMI ports to indicate to the PC that the display is still active.  But on the receiver, when I switch off of the input, it totally cuts off signal/power on that HDMI port.

I was wondering if there is a way to make the computer forcibly output to that display no matter if the HDMI port on the other end switches on or off.

    Any tips?
