    RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    Ok I've paid for SA. Downloaded the ToolBox.

    Read the User's Guide.

    All I want to do is skip commercials "On The Fly (from Recorded AND Recording Shows) in my RecordedTV directories. At this time I don't want to process/convert any files (I'd also like to keep my mchine as lean and mean as possible, so?

    With the paid version of SA, I still need to load toolbox to skip commercials?

    And if so, If I follow THIS section in the User's Guide, I can accomplish this?

    Configuring ShowAnalyzer and Commercial Skip, Step by Step

    NOTE: You MUST register or obtain a "trial registration" key for ShowAnalyzer for this to work. Otherwise ShowAnalyzer will bomb out with a "ASF file wrapper not supported" error. DVR-MS is only supported in the registered version of ShowAnalyzer. If you do not have the registered version, the default profile will convert the show to mpeg then run SA on it. Skip the steps which change the "Every File" condition to do native DVR-MS detection, to use this feature.

    Also, I use ShareRecordedTV, will this setup process the files from both directories "On The FLy"?

    Thanks for any help (feel like an Idiot, not quite getting this)

    Jeff

    Purevideo 1.02-196 breaks WMV conversion!

    I couldn't figure out why everything that used DVR2WMV was failing after one frame of video with something like "Exception HRESULT=80078065"

    1.02-196 of the Nvidia Decoder does not like DVR2WMV. Stick with 1.02-185. 196 doesn't add anything but h.264 Inverse Telecine on 7xxx GPU cards.
    If you can't see the fnord, it can't eat you.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    As you may have figured out by now, you can't remove commercials while the program is still recording. You can however do it as soon as it has completed.

    Check out the Wiki listed in the first post to this thread and most problems will be explained.

    Why is this Thread so messed up. Post that where made today show up before posts made a month ago. Heck I even quoted the wrong person.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    Sorry about taking so long to respond... I have Windows MCE 2005 with RU2 and kb912067 patch applied. I have done a bunch more testing and found I had to remove DVRMSToolbox and reinstall without the commercial skipper add in... then run copytogac.bat, Install New Media State.bat and RegisterCommercialSkipAddin.cmd. That cleared things up a bit it seems to load at least every other time now. When the add in doesn't load I find that ehExtHost.exe is only loaded for about 2 or 3 seconds then doesn't show in task manager. The other problem I am having is I can skip to all the commercials manually but if I watch the show it stops working after auto-skipping 1 commercial then in the log I get "ShouldOverrideKeyHandling" for every key press I make. I have not been able to get the MSAS log yet because every time I turn it off then it gets stuck... I will try to log for a whole night and see if I can catch it.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    Another thing that I noticed was in ehexthost.exe.config I have this...
    -------------------------------------------------------------

    xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">

    name="Microsoft.MediaCenter"
    publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35"
    />
    oldVersion="6.0.3000.0"
    newVersion="6.0.3100.0"
    />

    -------------------------------------------------------------

    Should the version match the MSASState.dll file or would that hurt anything?

    RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    Every couple of days the toolbox tries to re-install itself when I access the gui to edit a show or reboot (FW is in the startup folder).  And after the re-install, i've gotta reboot again.

    Not sure if this is a problem with the toolbox or my system but i thought i'd check to see if any of you have seen the same problem.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    Actually, by the description you have given I can tell you that MediaState isn’t installed correctly.  That’s the biggest problem with not packaging the installation.  I would say the best thing would be to wait for babgVant to release version 1.0.9.7.  He made good progress last week so I don’t think you will have to wait much longer.  It will save you A LOT of frustration if you wait for the packaged installation.

    RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    Started a new thread for the new version; this one was getting cluttered.

    Changes for 1.0.9.7

    General:
    - All settings consolidated in the settings tool
    - Settings are now stored in the registry
    - SA is packaged as the complete install, instead of the individual components.
    - double click on actions configuration options that require file or folder input will open file/folder dialogs
    - fixed a bug in AsyncProcess class, which could cause cmdline output to not be captured properly

    Filewatcher:
    - FW is now a windows service
    - FW uses last modified date instead of the queue time for time test

    Actions:
    - Create DvrmsEditor project file from commercials action added
    - Convert to WMV using Intelligent Connect action added
    - Move/Copy/Delete file addin added
    - Bug fixed in splicer where last span was not tested for length.
    - Fixed localization issue with commercial file generation

    Commercialskip add-in:
    - add-in will detect the abscence of a commercial file, and prompt for scan
    - better extender support added
    - auto skip on/off notifications added
    - Options added for Writing Events, Writing MSAS state, MaxSkipMinutes, SkipBoxMinMinutes, SkipBoxDisplayType, ReloadSettings, PromptScan
    - Better error handling
    - New MSAS sink, MediaState dependancy removed.
    - Added Toub's updated MCEGraph class
    DVRMSToolbox, Recording Broker, LcdWriter, and more software

    Delete source file

    This should be easy and I might've missed on how to do it but... how do you delete the source dvr-ms file after when you turn it into mpeg file?

    I tried to edit the
    Convert DVR-MS file to MPEG
    profile to add
    Delete the file in Context["InputFile"]
    after
    Output DVR-MS file as one MPEG stream

    The record does automatically get converted into mpg, but the source file still seems intact and is left there.

    Also I noted that converted MPEG file has all the capital letters turned into lower case, if there's a fix for this, that would be nice too.

    DVRMSToolbox: Feature Request

    babgVant,
    Thanks for providing a great application, along with such extensive support.  I do have a new feature request that I think would help a large number of the users.  I also think it could also eliminate some of the issues that I have previously read about in this post.

    Feature Request
    Add the ability to have commercial detection/removal only occur when MCE is idle (ie: not recording or playing).  It should also be smart enough to start only when there will be sufficient time to complete before scheduled recording.

    Thoughts:

    1. Keep track of average times for detection & removal, and use these averages to determine if there is enough idle time to complete detection & removal for a show.  This may be more complicated than necessary, I'm not sure?
    2. Abort if the user begins playing or recording a show while detection & removal is running.  Restarted the process when the system is idle.
    3. Allow this feature to be enabled or disabled.
    4. Have the detection & removal run at a user scheduled time.

    Those are just a few of my thoughts/observations on the subject.  Feel free to do what you like with the suggestion.

    Keep up the good work,
    John

    Re: RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    I am getting the error "The specified module could not be found." when attempting to convert to WMV. What I find particularly strange, is that when I open the GUI and initiate a profile that requires a transfer, it works. When i wait for it to occur manually, the log records the error and the file is not converted.

    ::UPDATE (5/28):: I copied msvcr71d.dll to the dvrmstoolbox directory and this seems to have done the trick.

    Thanks!
