RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
Hi, I just installed this, and I got it to convert DVR-MS to DVR-MS without commercials via the GUI just fine. It cut the commercials just fine, but now all the show information is gone. The air date, record date, etc. Is there something I can do to keep this for future conversions?

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
The program continues to fail on newly broadcasted shows (ie 24) does anyone know if there is some form of copy protection imbedded within these files that are causing the toolbox to fail, or is there something wrong with my installation. Any help would be greatly apppreciated. Help. I tried using the toolbox on a recently recorded tv show and the program failed in the middle of processing. Can someone help decipher and hopefully correct the issue. InputFile=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV\24_WNYW_15_01_2006_19_58_01.dvr-ms Processing actions, this may take some time!! RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
First of all, a heartfelt thanks for this program. How can I donate you some money for all of your efforts? Do you have a PayPal account? I'm serious. Next, I wonder if you could help me with the following: I am unable to use the Create DVD option in MCE to burn any "tooled" (commercial-less) DVR-MS files to DVD. Progress stops between 1-3%, and CPU usage on SBEserver drops to 0%. This happens with every file that I used DVRMSToolbox to cut commercials out of. Untouched DVR-MS files work with no problems. I have seen a few others with the same problem, and a reference by john_diamant in the forum about multi-segment cut DVR-MS files not working with Sonic MyDVD. I know that the built-in DVD creation uses the Sonic Symphony encoder, which might be the same as in MyDVD? Is there a way to use MCE to burn, or do I have to use 3rd party tools? Is the issue segmentation, metadata, or something else that can be overcome? If I can get that to work, I have another challenge: How can I use a profile to append something to the beginning of a tooled file's filename? I have been cutting the commercials out, and writing the show and commercials out to a directory, so that if I notice that ShowAnalyzer cut out legitimate stuff I can go back to the commercial file and watch it. I would like to have all commercial files appended with "zz_" so that they show up at bottom of recorded TV, instead of showing two entries per show, one for show and one for commercials. I know I can just find commericals, but ultimately I want to be able to burn a commercial free show to DVD frequently.

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
1) i can burn most shows that i've cut using the tool to dvd... for the ones that I can't I use the tool to convert it to mpeg and output that to the my videos folder and burn it from there. 2) there isn't a action that does this...

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
I would like to cut the commercials from a file in the recorded tv folder and then just overwrite the old file. What is the easiest way to do this? Detailed instructions would be must appreciated. I can make a bat file, but I am unsure on how I can get that to run. An idea I saw somewhere consists of this...move "C:\Recorded\TV\*_??.dvr-ms" C:\Recorded\Working\dvrmsprocess "C:\Program Files\DVRMSToolbox\DVRMSToolbox.exe" /pd=C:\Recorded\Working\dvrmsprocess Also, I suggest, sometime someone may want to start a new thread on DVRMSToolbox, because 85 pages of posts are a lot to read.

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
Has anyone been able to burn Recorded TV that has been "tooled" by DVRMSToolbox directly to DVD via the Media Center interface?
I have Sonic enocoders working flawlessly with untouched recorded TV, but if I use DVRMSToolbox to remove the commercials and save the file back out to dvr-ms, it hangs every time when trying to burn to DVD. I could not get Sonic PrimeTime, MyDVD, or Sonic Encoders to work.
I can do it with Nero Vision Express 2 (but not version 3), but would like to have the MCE interface. The CyberLink MakeDVD plug in works like a charm as well. It seems clearly that Sonic products will not work with tooled dvr-ms files. I have tested on two different installs of MCE with the same result.
Ideas?

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
How do you change the actions?
For example, I'd like to output both the tooled file and the commercials separately (until I am confident that ShowAnalyzer tool does a great job at finding the commercials).
However, that leads to double entries in the recorded TV (except way at the end of the file name there is the word "commercial"). I would love to have the outputted commercial files prefixed with something like "zzz" so that the commercials always sort at the very bottom (even after Zobomofoo).

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
I have evrything setup. The xml file is created automatically. However when I playback recorded TV and I press the right key on the remote nothing happens. I de-installed everything and tried re-installing with the same problem. Somehow the rightpress on the remote does not work. I would expect that the commercials are skipped when pressing the right key. Any tips from someone how to correct this problem??

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
Well, my FileWatcher is working again, but now it seems DVRMStoMPEG.exe isn't doing what the processing conditions tell it to do.
My Processing Conditions are roughly in this order: -Processed Files - do nothing -ATSC Recordings - Checks for the ATSC flag, do nothing if it's set.
-One condition per show I want to convert that checks for "Title" contains "show name". All execute the same "FileWatcherCustom" action - this is the problem, see below
-Every File - executes the "Find Commercials in DVR-MS" action - works properly.
The FileWatcherCustom action should:
-find commercials in DVR-MS (ShowAnalyzer 0.60 registered) SA is properly registered and configured to write XML to the CommercialsXml folder -Write commercial spans to XML - I know this isn't necessary with SA, and removing it makes no difference. -Cut commercials from DVR-MS -Convert DVR-MS to WMV
The commercial detection always works: Detection runs and XML spans are written. In the log I always get a "No Commercials Found" even if spans are found and the skipping plugin can see them. That's not a problem: I think I've always seen "no commercials found" in the log for the "Find commercials in DVR-MS" or FileWatcherCustom actions, and my FileWatcherCustom action used to work.
What I'm NOT seeing in the log is any evidence the other steps of the action are being executed. There's no log from cutting commercials or converting, and DVRMStoMPEG exits right after commercial detection is finished.
I think DVRMStoMPEG is executing the wrong Processing Condition. The log says the condition for the show title matched and the FileWatcherCustom action is being executed, but behaves exactly as if it were executing the "Find Commercials in DVR-MS" action that "Every File" uses. Either that, or FileWatcherCustom is ending after detection for no apparent reason.
If the file matches "ATSC Recordings" or "Processed Files" the proper condition of "Do Nothing" is executed and logged.
I've tried creating a new condition that calls FileWatcherCustom, and changing the "every file" condition to FileWatcherCustom, and both die right after detection.
Setting the GUI to use the same input and output dirs as FileWatcher and letting it process the directory has the same results: FileWatcherCustom is chosen, but doesn't fully execute.
If you can't see the fnord, it can't eat you.

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
Strange.
DVRMStoMPEG was indeed executing the wrong action for every processing condition, but going to Add/Remove Programs and running a Repair on DVRMSToolbox seems to have fixed it.
What is it with .NET application rot? It seems like they need to be reinstalled at least every two weeks.

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
Hey babgVant,
I have been using your great tool for a few months and it has been great! About 5 days ago the filewatcher stopped triggering the commercial detection. Using the GUI I can scan and it created the commercial XML and the commercial skip plugin is working file. I checked the file watcher setup and everything looked good. I even used the GUI to create an XML file for a new show and then delete the show, the system automatically deleted the XML so it seems to be detecting the changes. Any suggestions on how to debug this one? I am just trying to figure out why filewatcher does not trigger any action. It was working for months without error. I also created a copy of a show, renamed it and placed it back in the watched directory but it had no effect. I enabled all 4 logging check boxes but nothing shows in the log. Desperate to get FW working again so I don't have to manually process each file! Thanks for any suggestions you can offer, Pete

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv
.NET 2.0 will break filewatcher. If you installed .NET 2.0 recently, remove it. Then, repair DVRMSToolbox. Make sure you reboot whenever it wants you to, or the .NET framework won't be updated properly.
What seems to be happening is that Filewatcher still sets and receives change notify on the watched directory, checks files ok, and enqueues files for processing when the timeout expires. Problem is, under .NET 2.0 (even if .NET 1.1 is also present) it never fires off DVRMStoMPEG.exe and dequeues the file. This occasionally happens under 1.1, especially after processing a couple of files, but a restart of filewatcher will get it working again.
