Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

I'm not sure if this is the right app to adapt or maybe OML or MyMovies. I have a large collection of concerts on DVD, and I want to put some on to my HDD to play through VMC. Ideally I'd like the concerts to be listed by band, and I really like the way TV series appear in Video Library. As all the metadata / images would need to be self created, how easy is it to alter the XML files to suite.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Hi,

Is there a Wiki site or where there are instructions on how to use this app than reading this long thread?

How do I set this up to work with transcode 360 for MKV files on extender?

Is there way to go from clicking folder to play (movie details ) in just two click? It seems I have to click cover then thumbnail before the movie details page with the play button.

    Thanks.

Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    1. No transcoding support.

    2. I don't understand what you're asking for. Are you talking about the context menu/popup?

Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

It's been a few months since I've messed with this app, mainly because I couldn't get it to work but I thought I'd give it another shot today.

I tried using it on two different media center PC's today but I still had no success.

The first one gives the error: Unable to launch "video library" while loading, and the other one doesn't even show up anywhere.

So I figured it's probably not detecting my movie files since I don't store them in the default location. So I go back to the first page to read the instructions and it tells me to go to C:\ProgramData\VideoLibrary\videolibrary.dll.config and edit that file to my specific library destination.

So I find that folder, but there are no files in it at all, so I'm kind of stuck.

    Can anybody help me out?

---Sorry if I come off pissed off, but I've been trying to get this thing to work for a while now with 0 success.

Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

see most recent posts on this page or the previous page. I'll upload v116 tonight that should fixthis issue. It's caused by (1) an invalid folder added to your "add movies" thing in Media Center and/or invalid folders for recorded tv and (2) the code not validating the folders.

UPDATE: v116 x86 version uploaded that should fix the problem w/ GetDefaultWatchedFolders

    YES!!!

    It works. Awesome job!

I'm watching it pull down all the Episode info and pictures as we speak.

    Will keep you updated.

    swears,

Glad to hear it. This fix was overdue ...

    Ejezuba

Was your issue the fact that the context menu doesn't 'reset' from the first button in the list? If so, then I'm testing the fix now and it will be available in the next build. Not sure when that will be.

Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    Hi

Still loving this app... digging a bit deeper to add my own artwork etc.

I have, however, found another issue :(

I have tried adding the Anime series "Ah! My Goddess", but videolibrary cannot find it on thetvdb.com, reporting that it can;t find Season 1.  Removing the "!" gives an error that it can;t find "Ah My Goddess" which is fair enough, the "!" is integral to the title.

Is this an issue with the regex?... can I do something locally to fix it, or is that down to the genius creator (hoping flattery helps! lol)

    Cheers.

Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    Andy,

Lol. Good thing I stopped and thought about your problem description before I replied.

The fact that it 'can't find Season 1' is a sure sign of a problem. If anything, it should have been 'Can't find Ah My Goddess'. Can you post your folder structure and the full path to one of your AMG files?

...I also found one possible culprit: I was removing certain characters from the title before searching. One of those characters was "!". Not sure this is the main cause because the worst case scenario would be that you'd get a "Find Series Info" button available then given choces for Ah! My Goddess and Ah! My Mini Goddes. From your description, it's trying to find "Season 1"....

Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

    Thanks for the speedy reply.

One of the files would be on the path:

    \\shogun\Media\Anime\Ah! My Goddess\Season 1\Ah! My Goddess - S01E01.mkv

Removing the "!" from the folder name gives a can;t find "ah my goddess" error.

I have all my series under \\shogun\anime, the a folder for the series, with the name verified on thetvdb.com first, then season 1 etc, the the episode names have the same structure as above.

I can live with this for the moment, it is the only series out of 23 so far that it has happened on, I just thought I would draw your attention to it.

    Cheers again.

Re: Proof-of-concept for a tv library app for watching series in order

Hmm... I will try to simulate the filename and folder structure to see what happens.

Update: Confirmed. I got some goofy @#(()*)_ errors when the code strips off the "!". After changing the code to not do that, I now get the Ah! My Goddess folder recognized as a series. However, "Find Series Info" reports that nothing could be found --which is clearly bogus. Still investigating.

Update 2: Turns there was HTML formatting tags inside the thetvdb overview that screwed up the xml parser. I just went to thetvdb.com and changed "<i>ONE</i> wish" to just " ONE wish". This xml problem is tied to how I parse the xml data. Changing how this is done is a pretty big undertaking that I don't want to tackle for awhile yet.

Anyhoo, I just confirmed that it will work as intended for AMG. I will post a new build for you in the next 30 mins that takes care of the "!" part of the problem.  After I post this build can you delete all .metadata folders in AMG and in AMG\Season 1 then try again?

    I'm glad it's not just me :)

and yes, I am using the latest build, just installed it today.

    Cheers.
