RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

1.0.9.6 problem or confusion on how to make it all work with the gui...i set up a processing condition to convert dvr-ms to mpeg w/o commercials and editted it to do that if the "station name" of the program recorded is not equal to "x"...technically this should process ever file in the directory i have recorded files in...i created a subfolder in the recorded tv folder for a selection of files i want to convert/process...i then use the gui and the process directory part of the tool...i enter the subfolder of recorded files and enter an output file/subfolder i have created in the recorded video folder...my problem is that the tool works on the first file and then just stops while processing the second...when i check the temp directory the 2nd file has been converted to mpeg, but the commercials are still in it...the toolbox process just dies...any ideas?!...the orig two default conditions i set to "do nothing" as i don't think they have a bearing on what i'm trying to do...i also clean out the processed files are by deleting the entries when i retry it all...i am using mce2005 with rollup 2; pentium 3.6, (2) 250 gig drives in a raid 0 array, 1 gig ram...help!

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

I believe there is a bug in the way DVRMSToolbox processes directories in which it doesn't unload the previous instance of the showAnalyzer.dll ... If you watch your task manager and how much memory is in use during the second commercial detection you will notice your memory in use goes up into the Gigabyte range and then usually the system will shut down the process to stop any major issues. If you have the filewatcher do all the conversions for you or do one file at a time you will not have the issue or if you are not using commercial detection when processing directories...

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

I just meant that the only time you run into that bug is when you process a whole directory. This is because the problem is when showanalyzer is loaded to cut one recording and stays loaded until the second recording is cut... if you do one recording at a time then showanalyzer is unloaded every time you process another recording.

Filewatcher is a program that watches your recorded tv folder to processes any new recording for you automatically and one at a time (bug doesn't occur). This would only help for recordings that you make after setting up filewatcher though (not for stuff you already recorded). You can find info on setting it up here http://www.bluwiki.org/go/DVRMSToolbox_User_Guide .

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

    Hi,

I'm trying to use DVRMS Filewatcher and I get the following error message every time I try to launch it:

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled

    Process id=0x15f8 (5624), Thread id=0xa88 (2696)

I'm running Windows XP SP2, and DVRMStoMPEG works fine

    Any ideas are appreciated!

    Thanks

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

The program won't allow me to convert dvr-ms files to wmv files. it says the msvcr71d.dll was not found. I have tried reinstalling as it suggests but this does not help. I could convert using 1.0.9.5 for five files or so, then it stopped working. Please help.

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

I need some help w/ automated commerical removal.  I've got a batch script set up to remove commercials from all .dvr-ms files in the current directory and ouptut .dvr-ms files.  My thought was to use Windows Task Scheduler and have the script run every night @ 1:00am.  Is this the best way to do this?

Also, during testing of the script, I noticed if dvrmstompeg hits an error condidtion this script bombs out.  In one case the actual source file was removed from the directory.  Any thoughts?  FYI--it was not a scripting error--the script is basically FOR %%1 (*.dvr-ms) DO DVRMStoMPeg.exe......

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

i sometimes have problems with large files, usually over 1 hour long.  The % counter rises to about say 72% (this is variable) but next displays 100% and marks complete.  However, the dvrms is long than the mpeg.  convert dvrms to mpeg was used.  Anything i can do?

Sometimes my files get skipped reporting Error in Do Work.  Is there any way to remedy this?

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

Thank you for making this program.  I love it!

But, recently, filewatcher died on me.  I read through all the old posts and tried a number of things but still haven't been able to get this up and running.  I have been using filewatcher with the 'output commercials, output dvr-MS, and move to Record TV'.  I also added a line in this to delete the source file.

Trying to troubleshoot this, I tried moving files in and out of the recorded tv directory.  Sure enough, when I move a file in, the file is recognized in the event viewer with an event ID =0.  And, ehexthost.exe is running.  I changed the settings on the event viewer to overwrite events if necessary.

However, when I right click on the icon in the toolbox icon on the taskbar and do show log it is empty and nothing happens to the file. Tried rebotting but still no change. But, I am able to process the file directly using dvrmstompeggui with no problems.

The only thing I can find out of sorts is in the error.log file I find several errors from dating back a few days ago saying

"xxxxx  MSASTATE.MediaStatusChange Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object"  But this error does not show up for today's testing.

If someone could give me some ideas to try I would appreciate it.

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

Using the latest version and comskip, I'm getting a lot of commercial files that are not the show's name, rather a guid.xml Checking the logs shows this for those files - They get to around 99% then show a divide by zero error.

Any idea how to fix this?

There's a new version of SA out. You can try that.

    @BabqVant

Thanks for your replies to some of my previous posts, you were a real help!

I'm trying to convert a directory using the comand line that dvrmstoolbox generated...I'm running into the problem that the Processed Condition never applies to some of the files that have already been analyzed and so it keeps processing the whole directory every time it runs...

Let me run my theory by you...I use Meedio as my front end and as a result, I dont believe that it creates the MetaTages that dvrmstoolbox tries to fill in so that the processing conditioner will know it can skip that file...Am I close?

If so, is there any other way I can tell the Processed Condition that a file has already been processed? text file? xml file? I plan to run this every morning so I supposed even just being able to tell it to only process things from the day before would work as well...but I'm new to this whole thing so I'm going to stop rambling on about things I don't quite understand yet

Thanks for any help you can offer!

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

if you're using the process folder option, there is a log that it keeps to tell which files have been processed. files should automatically get added to the list though. you can view and edit the list from the pc editor, click "Edit File List".

RE: DVRMSToolbox (GraphRenderer): Automated commercial removal, convert to mpg/wmv

For WMV output you now need the msvcr71d.dll file. This is a MS Visual Studio 7.1 runtime file. Some systems may already have it or not. If you don't, just google for a copy of it. Install is as simple as copying to the system32 folder. That's it. WMV output will work**. No need to install any additional things.

** Since the dvr2wmv.dll just uses the auto generate graph, if your filters are screwed or set funny (say re-encode PCM to DD/output DD to SPDIF), it will not work.
