Cool! Glad it worked out. You might add "p2" back into the address to isolate it from any interference, but I doubt that would affect the range. Maybe fiddle with the usb receiver some.

    I'll update the pre-reqs, thanks!

Wonderful application. Started up no worries, just one issue, the remote wonder old version I had is address p1 not p2 but everything works wonderfully.

    Many Thanks

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Hi! Glad to hear it works for you. Is your's a Remote Wonder or Remote Wonder II or other remote? Just curious on the P1 address.

Here's a post on waking up from standby:
    http://www.meedio.com/forum/about24831.html

Looks like your mobo needs to support wake up from usb, but the X10 usb receiver may not relay the wakeup commands.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

This from a newbie to the forum and MCE... any help is truly appreciated.  This does sound like a GREAT app but I can't seem to get it to work.

Downloaded and installed the .NET framework.  Downloaded and installed X10 Commander.  Uninstalled the ATI Remote Wonder Plus app.  Using the ATI RF receiver via USB on the PC and it shows up OK in device manager.  When I boot the PC and MCE launches, so does the X10 window.  I've checked the Log Messages box...

Now the bad part.  My remote does nothing.  Doesn't register anything in X10, doesn't interact with the PC.  Brand new out of the box with fresh batteries.  I've probably missed something very simple.  Again, thanks in advance for the help.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Sorry I meant to update the system requirements earlier to address this, but basically you need the X10nets.exe application that is part of the ATI RW software or you can install the X10 ActiveHome SDK. If you re-install the ATI software, just remove its shortcut from the startup folder.

The revised requirements (original post updated) are:

    System Requirements:
    1. .Net Framework v2.0.50215 or higher. See http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7abd8c8f-287e-4c7e-9a4a-a4ecff40fc8e&DisplayLang=en
    2. X10 Device Network Service (X10Nets.exe). This is included with the ATI RW Software or you can install the ActiveHome SDK from http://www.x10.com/activehomepro/sdk/index.html. I plan to include this with the X10Commander installation package, but for now you need to have this installed. You can verify that you have it by looking for X10 Device Network Service from Control Panel>Adminstrative Tools>Services and\or looking for C:\Program Files\Common Files\X10\Common\X10nets.exe.

I'll include this component with the next release of X10Commander.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

It is a remote wonder that came with a 7500 AIW.

Thanks heaps for a great app.

Another question, the numeric keypad , when trying to use it as a alpha entry pad ala mobile phone - ie press 1 once for a twice for b etc as used in the search functions in mce do not seem to work - it just sends a 1 - is this a timing thing ? or is there a context type adjustment?

But thanks again I love it.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Sorry for the delay in responding. Currently X10Commander doesn't do mobile phone type keystrokes.

To enable this would normally require MCE to account for this kind of data entry. So that when X10Commander sends a 1, then A, then B, then C for 4 presses of the #1 button, MCE would "understand" that we wanted just the letter C and not 1ABC.

Although, if X10Commander sent a backspace AND an A (or B or C) for repeated keystrokes, it could effect the same result. But, X10Commander would need to know when to do this and when not. So for example, when you want to go to channel 11, pressing 11 won't result in sending an A. It could be enabled when it detects the right MCE screens, or maybe with an "enable\disable" button on the remote.

I'll look into this for the next release of X10Commander. In the meantime, does anyone know if there's an add-in (or similar) to MCE that already does this?

    Thanks!

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Hey,

Just wanted to thank you for the hard work in not only putting this app together but also keeping up with improvements and everyone's suggestions.  The application worked like a charm and my RW+ is working exactly like I had hoped.

I was all excited when my ATI TV Wonder Elite came that I installed the card and was ready to use the remote only to find out that it was not compatible with MCE.  I tried the same Plugin approach with the website that you referenced in your original post with no success.  I was starting to think that the remote was useless and that I had to spring for one of the MCE remotes when I came accross your post.  I had no problems installing the application but did not realize that I needed to have the ATI application installed for the X10 driver so after some back and forth, I finally got things up and running.  The performance is perfect but then again, I never tried the earlier versions.

Once again, thanks for making this available to all.

    Many Thanks,

    GKNY

And to everyone else that may be waiting for the new version, sorry it's taken me soooooooo long. I've been sidetracked for a while, but hope to have the next version complete shortly.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Hi,

I have quick question, since you have worked with same kind of me required. I want you to reply for the below mentioned question.

Is there any way to find the input device - keyboard or remote control? for HTML application in Media center.

We have used HtmlInput Object (text) box in html based application for media center. when using keyboard number keys (0-9), the behavior is like the triple-tap and not as key board.

Need solution for making the text box work with remote as triple-tap and with key boad as numbers (0-9)

    Thanks

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Damn. I wrote this long thank you and it didn't post.

Well basically thanks a bunch. I know how much work these little things are so I really appreciate it.

    feed back
The up and down arrows, in MCE, move by two's instead of one at a time.

Again thanks so much. I joined the forum just to let you know.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

I am wanting to customize a key command but unsure exactly how to go about it.  Is there a way someone could post a short example.

I would like to be able to press one of the unused buttons and make the windows screensaver activate.

Thanks for any and all help!

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

Oops, thought I had already replied to this post, sorry.

But glad to see it's working for you. I'm struggling to get this next release out, but it should *crosses fingers* be done soon.

The arrows should only go up\down one position. Are you also running the ATI RW software? If so that would double-process the remote's commands. The mouse-pad arrows can do 1,2 or 3 positions if you hold it down long too enough.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

I've been using this app for several months with 3 different remotes on 3 sperate MCE PCs and its been working great.  The only issue I have is with RW+ remote itself and the range.  I think I am getting interference from some other RF device in the house because the documentation says it supports up to 60 ft.  The distance between the receiver and the remotes is less than 30 ft and one of them is actually close to 10 ft and i get spotty reception.

Does anyone know what frequency range these remotes work in?  I have my wireless router right next to the receivers and think that this may be causing the problem but have had little time to test.  I also have a wireless phone and other wireless RF based devices and wanted to see if there was a known conflict.

Anyone using multiple remotes throughout the house with any issues?

    Thanks to all.

RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

According to http://remotew.free.fr/product.htm it runs at 433MHz. I have occasionally had reception problems when the receiver is near my wireless keyboard\mouse receiver. Moving it away usually helps that though.

Also, my phone runs at 5.8GHz and my wireless router at 2.4 Ghz. Have you tried changing the channel your router uses? My Linksys lets me set different channels from 2.412 to 2.462 Ghz.

Hope that helps, and glad to hear X10Commander is working for you! Let me know if you have any issues\enhancements, etc.

    Thanks!!
