Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

I don't know if there are differences with new versions of the RW software (I have the 3.01 version), but the important installed X10 driver on my system is found like this:

Look in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers. For my RW there is an "ATI Wireless Remote Receiver V2.36" device that has the driver file x10uif.sys under Driver Details.

About your install error messages; I would make sure to have the RW receiver plugged in (with LED lit) and do the install as Administrator (and not as a restricted user account). Apart from that I have no clue.

The light on the receiever is on and it seems as below as the drivers are installed. I am unsure if these drivers are part of MCE or part of the 3.04 Drivers

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

I think it is something broken in your OS installation. If you are just building your system I would recommend reinstalling and then put RW software 3.01 in (because this is the version I am using and can guarantee works).

Also try a google for the error code HRESULT -2147220473 which I think is the important OS error:

    http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&q=hresult+%22-2147220473%22&meta=

You will find several "fixes" that involve reregistering system DLLs, and I also saw one thread about the RW:

Remember that google is your friend. //Mike

    Thanks a lot ;-)

Where would I get the 3.01 Software from ..? Ati only supplies the latest Version...

I hopefully get on monday my 9800Pro so my Windows MCD 2005 needs re-installing anyway

I think this post here fixed my Issue ;-)

I started the remote wonder application and I got the remote working via this... Now I need to figure out if the RW Key master is working too after a reboot

If your mailbox accept 6265KB attachments I could mail it to you. If so, PM me your mail address.

    > I hopefully get on monday my 9800Pro

Just so you know: I gave up after endless attempts on using my AIW9800Pro as a TV-tuner in MCE. It does work, but hangs or encounters a zillion other problems. Too many bugs in ATI's software. I'm on Hauppauge hardware nowadays.

    > I think this post here fixed my Issue ;-)

Great. With bugs like this I think you realize why I can't guarantee the function of any other version than the one I have tried myself.

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

I am also running on a Dell Optiplex GBPvr with a Haupauge Nova-T USB and that works fine but that unit cannot fit any FullSize Cards.

I have the MCE on my Main PC and I am just going to try and see if it works any better with the 9800 than the 9200.

The only thing I had to manually tweak was the Power Button as the script from page one had that in there but the Software did not want to use it.

THX again for the Help ;-)

    mce config

A .rwc file is actually included in the heap of files downloaded with rwkeyfactory...

however, it won't show up in a search for .rwc files in rwkeymaster because it's enclosed in a damn .zip file.

    rwkeyfactory110\config\mce2005.zip

i somehow stumbled upon this after countless attempts to make my own.

    hope this helps someone

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

I noticed NOLAfreak asked a question about using an IRblaster with the ATI remote. Does anyone have experience with getting this working? I too have an ATI remote and want to be able to control my STB.

    Thanks, ..Roger

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

Hey everyone, quality post so far. I know this is slightly off topic, but i can't seem to find any information about this anywhere and you guys are sort of talking about it! My issue is commands to do system specific actions, specifically one command that will automatically start a specific playlist within my music playing on random? I don't actually have an ATI remote and am intending to do it via another programmable remote, but the issue is if it's possible at all, and presumably if it's possible within mce then it will be possible via other input devices (to an extent!) So if anyone has any idea how to do that or if it's possible then i would really, really appreciate any pointers anyone has got as i'm a bit stumped!!

    Thanks very much in advance,

    Dave

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

After this mod does MCE detect the ATI Remote during TV signal setup?

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

MCE never does any detection of the ATI remote configured in this way. The remote behaves like a keyboard, sending keystrokes as described in the first post of this thread. If you activate Notepad, the remote will be sending the keystrokes to it instead.

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

I ran this on my computer for a while, and I loved it....  But one day I needed an extra USB plug, so I unplugged the remote (By mistake, I meant to unplug something else).  Now the remote wont work again, it doesnt matter how many times I uninstall it...  I removed Remote wonder from the startup reg and also RWmaster and I rebooted, still nothing after new install...  so I uninstall again, and following the steps on about a million forums, I remove all X10 keys I find in Regedit, and also remove all X10 files I found on my computer....  I restarted and tried... still nothing after new install (nothing happens when I plug in remote and I dont see RW icon in task tray)

I know it has something to do with RWKeyMaster....  how do I completely remove RWKeyMaster??  there is no uninstall for it (since there is no installer) but it left files behind

The wierdest part is that Windows doesn't even recognize/detect it when I plug it in, Windows does nothing (because it was installed already) Maybe if I can remove the hardware profile or something it might help, anyone have any ideas???

even ATI can't help me, and now Im going in circles, the only think I have left now is a reformat, which I would really like to avoid :(  Hopefully some people have an idea

and heads up to those using RWKeyMaster, don't unplug your remote!!!

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

I also had problems after disconnecting my receiver unit once, I described it here: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/permalink/187715/100123/ShowThread.aspx#100123

As you can see in that post, my problems was with the X10 driver that comes with the ATI installation. Perform a new install of the ATI stuff and make sure ATIRW.exe (ATI's "remote-to-keyboard-mapping" daemon) is running (to test with, you don't want it to run together with RWKeyMaster). If f ex the remote's mouse pad isn't working with ATIRW then the problems lie with the X10 driver and not with RWKeyMaster.

I seriously doubt that RWKeyMaster leaves anything on your system as this is a plain and simple Deplhi exe file that you have to Autostart yourself. If you can't see its icon then maybe that is because you haven't started it? If you don't auto-run it then you have to start it manually.

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

I tried to remove all the X10 drivers...  I took out evertything from my registry, I reinstall Remote Wonder, and nothing happens...  I even completely removed RWKeyMaster :(

of course I email Wonder, and all they say is "RW does not support MCE" and they kept repeating it
I even said... it fricking worked....  now it doesn't WTF

I don't know...  I think maybe if I reformat or something maybe
