    mpjbell:

Here is an example of a sort of full day http://www.pilgrim.com/downloads/googlecal.jpg

I have a whole seperate menu bar just for your Google Apps :)

Let me tell you my wifes likes being able to just turn on the tv and check her calendar before she even gets out of bed in the morning!

Yeah... thats to cluttered.   I am going  to focus on this issue for the next release.  Settings for calendar size, calendar font, and event list font.   I also want to find a fix for the focused day not returning to its original color on the extenders, thats annoying....

Re: New Addin: Google Calendar Viewer

    mjp14,

WOW much improved ! Event list is much better, with  calendar set to medium and event text set to small I get 1 line per item.

I am using it on a 4:3 20 inch monitor right now and the size adjustments are a big help.

Will let you know how it looks on the 40" and 2100 extender when I get out of work

    Thanks

    Mark

Re: New Addin: Google Calendar Viewer

Thanks.  There are few things specifically that I would like your opinion on.

1)is everything clear enough to read when the video is in full screen mode?

2)how does the settings scroller ( <General> <Month View>) behave.  It seems a little weird to me, but I havent used a remote on it yet.

3)Is the completely transparent calendar better/worse/add an option?

    4) what would you like to see in the next version? I have a couple of ideas but really no preference.

When I get home in front of an actual tv with a remote instead of a remote desktop session and a mouse i will report back

Re: New Addin: Google Calendar Viewer

    mpj14,

1)is everything clear enough to read when the video is in full screen mode?

Are you taking about the calendar overlay on live tv? I wouldn't use it. It wasn't very readable.

2)how does the settings scroller ( <General> <Month View>) behave.  It seems a little weird to me, but I havent used a remote on it yet.

    -Works just fine

3)Is the completely transparent calendar better/worse/add an option?

-I prefer it over  not having the days change back to blue when they are no longer in focus

    4) what would you like to see in the next version? I have a couple of ideas but really no preference.

-I need to give that some thought I see you are planning the Agenda View that would be my first choice. Are you planing any editing control? If so would it be done with an on screen keyboard. Also maybe an info button selection for months and years. So you click info a menu pops up with Jan- Dec. It maybe easier than scrolling your way back to the top and then left or right

    -Other thoughts

I really like the now playing thumbnail view but it needs to show up before the calendar login
can it be selectable to bring you back to now showing or live tv

    Possible bug?
When you change months and come back to the current month it doesn't bring you back to the current day.

    replies:

    1) agreed.  not very readable, especially on my 2100.  This will be tweaked next version.

    3) Would an option for a transparent/white calendar background be useful, assuming it worked properly with the days returning to their non focused state?

    4) I'm looking into implementing a context menu.  What will be in it is not set, I'm thinking at least semi-configurable by the user.

    other:

What do you mean the now playing thumbnail needs to show up before the calendar login?  Everything should be displayed at relatively the same time.  The next version will include the ability to click the thumbnail to go to the now playing media.

Thanks for the input.  I'm planning one more release before next tuesday.  Then I'm on vacation for a week!

I think a choice between transparent and not is a good idea

On my system when I open the calendar it takes about 10 to 15 seconds to display the calendar. I am guessing this the time it is taking to login to google. During this time the only thing displayed is the months accross the top and the Events line then the calendar and the thumnail video will show up at the same time

    Thanks and enjoy your vacation

Heya -- just took a peek at it and it looked pretty nifty.   Though, have you pondered of hooking into the iCal format so that one can link in several different public calenders a la "Windows Calendar"?

I have thought about it, but thats about it.  Know of any good references?  I'm not sure what other calendar services people use (please post ideas), but I have thought having a program that could interface multiple would be useful.  That could lend itself to multi-calendar service synchronization.   I'm not even sure if there are utilities for this available or not.  I'm just thinking off the top of my head.  ALL ideas are welcome.   New version tomorrow afternoon...

Re: New Addin: Google Calendar Viewer

    Mjp14,

Something is wrong. I uninstalled the previos version and installed todays release. I open the App in VMC and I am presented with a screen that says "retreiving data"  it sits there for 2 or 3 minutes and then will finaly show the calendar. So when I finaly was presented witht he calendar I made a setting change Hit save and now I am back to Retriving Data. I have verified my google account logs in quickly.

I am logged into my VMC by RDP session if that makes a difference

How many calendars do you have loading?  If you have more than one, did you check "Default Calendar Only" ?   If so, the loading times should be the same as previous version for 1 calendar.  The loading time will def increase with more calendars.  The way that I understand it, Google provides individual XML feeds for each calendar, thus requiring mulitple queries.

My internet connection at home and at my dev machine are pretty quick, so I don't have a good benchmark for speed testing.  If there is an issue a different event loading scheme will need to be created.   I have 5 calendars with multiple recurring events and my load times are 10-15 seconds.  2 - 3 minutes is def not acceptable...

Also, the next version will have a 'smarter' settings page that won't reload everytime unless a changed setting requires.

Re: New Addin: Google Calendar Viewer

I only have 1 calendar and the default checkbox is checked. I will uninstall and reinstalled again.

I also did not have to re-input my login info after uninstalling the old version.
