Re: Media Center Guide not updating

    Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in a response on this issue. I was not able to monitor the forums the past week.

As a confirmation, as well as an update, we have identified the issue and will have it resolved very soon. I'll post an update as soon as I can give an ETA.

    Chris

thanks for the info--curious, what is/was the issue?

also, what should we do in the future--is there an email/website at microsoft where we can let someone know sooner/should you be on vacation or something?

hopefully microsoft keeps the guide running free for a while (we've noticed they started charging even for email/chat support!)

Re: Media Center Guide not updating

This issue was an internal process which has now been corrected and currently in process for delivering new data. ETA is 14-24 hours.

As for communication methods, as I posted here: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/288081.aspx

Please feel free to PM me through the community website. This will bubble up anything that needs immediate attention. I will do my best to respond, but at the very least, it should get my attention to have someone look into the issue.

great, thanks chris-- I'll post that it will be up to date in the avsforum where I started a thread too.

are you the only dedicated MSFT employee who checks over here, or are there others--what if in the future you are traveling, or away on some secret mission??

Re: Media Center Guide not updating

We do have other MSFT employees who watch the forums as well. I don't think we have complete coverage of all areas, but we hope to improve that.

If I end up traveling, or on a secret mission, I'll be sure to have someone cover in my place. Also, as I stated in my thread here: http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/288081.aspx we are working on something that will help with the data quality submissions :)

Great! Yes, we have had some headends already complete. I guess you're one of the lucky ones early in the process!

    Works now, DTV for 40204.

I've worked Site Operations for long enough that I'm bright enough to realize details are private, but I hope that the process that failed will be re-visited so it's monitored appropriately going forward? I'm not hyperbolizing when I say my guide updated less than 10x during the month of August so far...

Re: Media Center Guide not updating

Could this Guide problem also be what's causing my VMC not to record scheduled programs? I just noticed that only 1 of my programs recorded last week and now I can't even record anything that's already on. WTF???

I'm not sure how a decrease in the amount of guide data would affect your recordings. If you can see the program in your guide, you should be able to record it.

Well, all I know is I had a working system a week ago and sometime during that period I lost all my Guide data. I got it back before the weekend, but nothing has recorded all week and when I try to record a current program I get the ding sound, but nothing happens. What could possibly have broken VMC's ability to record currently on TV programs?

I'll poke around and see if I can come up with anything. In the meantime, have you tried going back through TV setup to see if it helps?

Re: Media Center Guide not updating

I might have an issue similar to cyclewriter, but I was able to push through it.

I wanted to record a reality show and because the guide data was not updated in the past week it said I had already recorded that airing of the show (it is a show set to record new episodes only - this should have been a new episode and I wanted it recorded).  When I went to manually record from the guide an error came up saying I didn't have enough tuners.  I selected the show anyway and left the other shows enabled and it still recorded.  But it was a little weird.

Vista Home Premium - this machine is about a month old, just updated out of the box with whatever everyone is supposed to get from Microsoft.

EDIT: just rebooted the computer and now it won't record without popping up with the out of tuners, even on a channel I am watching...
