Re: Internet Radio PlugIn - ShoutCast at it's best

    Question/request for you Sörnt,

I am an avid internet radio fan & currently use the WebMedia and
RadioTime plug-ins in order to listen to many of my favorite webstreams
on my Media Center computer as well as my v1 extender (HP x5400).

I am deliberately avoiding the upgrade to Vista until the major bugs and flaws
have been resolved, but I have read so many positive comments about your
plug-in & would love to try it out.

So, my question is: I want to know if it's compatible with XP/MCE 2005 If not,
is there any possibility that you may be able to create some sort of emulator to
enable us XP hold outs, access to your wonderfull plug-in?

    Thank you in advance,

    -Steve

Re: Internet Radio PlugIn - ShoutCast at it's best

    Hello Steve,

I am sorry - but there is no way to make the plug in user interface (MCML based) compatible to the older media center version (HTML based). I can't host the user interface in a HTML based plug in because MCML is only available with the new media center version.

For XP/MCE 2005 I need to replicate the user interface to HTML - that will be a lot of work.
First I will get mcShoutCast feature complete with the current media center version. After that is done and more people ask me to do the replication - it will be an option.

    Kind regards,

    Sörnt

Re: Internet Radio PlugIn - ShoutCast at it's best

    Hello Paul,

the new version will be ready at the weekend.

    Things that I finished:

    • Back-button support for the pop up dialog.
    • fixed the issue with the selection of the sort selection buttons at the pop dialog (right arrow key does not work).
    • remember the last sort order for the Favorites and ShoutCast sections.
    • settings for the TCP Port of the mcShoutCastProxy (some guys had trouble - looks like that some other software is using the same Port).
    • some new images:

At the last few weeks I had a lot of to do at work - so didn't found the time to implement the more advanced requests.

    Regards,

     Sörnt

Not a problem, I just thought I'd ask.

Perhaps I'll check it out someday if/when I decide to go to Vista. Although in my estimation, it will be a cold day in hell before that happens!

    Best,

    -Steve

Re: Internet Radio PlugIn - ShoutCast at it's best

    Hi all!

I have got the new version ready :-)

Please back up your favorites C:\ProgramData\mcShoutCast\Favorites.xml. After installing the new version copy it back again. The should be the last setup where this step is needed.

    new features:

    • remember the last sort order for stations. If you start mcShoutcast the next time the last used sort order will be used again.
    • you can use the back button at your remote to close the pop up dialog.
    • mcShoutCast has got a new logo.
    • In generall all settings are stored in the „C:\ProgramData\mcShoutCast\mcShoutCastConfig.xml“ file. This file will be created on demand.
If you need to change some settings, for example the HTTP Port for the mcShoutCastProxy service, you can force the creation of  that file by changing the stations sort order.
This element <ProxyService MEXPort="1720" HTTPPort="1721" /> configure the mcShoutCastProxy service. If need to change the value of „HTTPPort“, enter in a different number and restart the mcShoutCastProxy service. The service will be started everytime you restart your PC.

this bug is sorted out now:

    • the right button at the pop up dialog for changing the sort order can now be selected by using the right arrow key.

I hope you will enjoy the new version,

    Sörnt

Re: Internet Radio PlugIn - ShoutCast at it's best

hi Sörnt, just downloaded and installed your latest version, couple of things ive noticed.

firstly your new version seems to require .net framework 3.5 now, as opposed to your earlier version would run ok with 3.0, its not a major thing but maybe something to mention in your install notes, also because i didnt have 3.5 installed i got an error message which is in german, so you may want to translate this for the english installer, see screenshot below:-

    http://hotimg15.fotki.com/p/a/87_127/195_89/installer-error.jpg

ok secondly, and def of more importance is the fact i cannot actually get any radio stations to play, every time i click play i get the message " an unknown audio error has occured C00D11B1". i have not messed about with any codecs on my machine so im pretty sure its not that, any suggestions?.

    paul.

p.s all the other features and bugfixes seem to be working great :-)

Sörnt, I am seeing the same issue -- can't play favourites or stations from the shoutcast directory. Paul, what do you use for sound hardware? In my case it is a soundblaster x-fi.

Re: Internet Radio PlugIn - ShoutCast at it's best

    Hi,

mcShoutCast needs .Net Framework 3.0 + SP1 for .Net Framework 3.0. The Installer (WIX) can't check for an installed SP1 for .Net Framework 3.0. So I checked against .Net Framework 3.5.

I will have a look at the issue why you can't play a station anymore.

    Hi Paul and Lee,

did you uninstall the old version or did simply install the new version without uninstalling the old one?

hi sornt, i uninstalled the old version and then installed the new version, i did check to make sure the uninstaller removed the mcshoutcast directory from programdata, which it did so it looked like a clean uninstall.

lee - to answer your question i have a realtek onboard soundcard, so im pretty sure the issue is not hardware related as we both have completely different hardware manufacturers eh.
