Re: Vista4Cast V1.2; Weather on vista start page.

    Hi Pete,

Looks promising.  How about sunrise and sunset times?  Will you add image icons like the ones on the start page?  Will you show the info for each day all in one page?  Or will you just show the current condition per page?

Thank you for working on the plugin.

    -Josef

I put sunrise and sunset on it just after posting the screenshot. I want to put on most/all the info available to me including the graphics.

Ok...I'm completely frustrated.  I can't get this app to work on two different x64 Vista installations.  Here's what I've done:

    -Installed .net 3.5

    -Installed Vista4Cast

-Changed configuration values (after I searched for my zip, I had to delete two leading spaces to make it work).

    -Saved configuration

    -Ran Vista4Cast

-Looked at the icon that was created...it looks good.

    -Launched Vista Media Center...nothing

    What am I doing wrong?

    Are you running V1.2?

Did you run the setup program?

What is your system drive C:, D: etc

Check the registry HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Start Menu "OEMLogoUri" should point to the image ie "file://C:\Users\Public\Vista4Cast\Vista4Cast.png" If your system drive is different then change the value to suit.

    Pete,

I am running v1.2.  I downloaded it yesterday.  I ran the setup file (if by setup you mean the configuration program that's available after installing the program...if there's some other setup program other than the program itself where is it?).  My system drive is C.

I'll check the registry when I get home tonight.

    Thanks

Sorry i meant installation program, which you have run. It should have created everything correctly. I am sure it will be the registry setting that is the problem.

Okay...I've got it running now.  It was the Registry Entry.  There was an entry, but no corresponding value.  I input it manually and it works now.  As a result, I have two bugs to report:

    1) Vista4Cast Config puts unnecessary spaces in the locale field causing the resulting calls to TWC to gather weather information to fail.

    2) Vista4Cast installer creates the registry entry but does not enter the location of the icon file into the registry.

FYI...I'm running Vista x64 (Ultimate and HomePrem) on both tested platforms.

    Thanks

    Thank you for your feedback

What location did ou search for in the config program?
What entry did the installer make in your registry? What did you change it to?

Re: Vista4Cast V1.3; Weather on vista start page and MCE Addin

Ok i have updated Vista4Cast. Vista4Cast is now a stand alone application.
To use this version. Remove your old installation first (Backup your config.xml file if your dont want to setup your image again), remove your scheduled task.
After you have installed this version, setup your startpage image as before or copy back your original config.xml.
This version is standalone, it will check for the weather every 2 hours.

I have also created a Vista addin. This will show you a 7 day forecast and the current conditions.
Check out the first page for the download link.

Comments welcome. I have spent a lot of time on this version and i would like to thank the people on mediacentersandbox.com (AndyC, IgnoranceIsBliss and emigrating) for there help. I have used IgnoranceIsBliss's tutorials to teach myself MCML. If it wasn't for these tutorials it would not have been possible. Thank you.

I can't post this version without thanking  my 3 1/2 beta testers. Killervette, Andrew Lisse, Jcuesico and his wife. And of course my Girlfriend for putting up with me while i have been coding.

Re: Vista4Cast V1.3; Weather on vista start page and MCE Addin

Wow.  Nice. That's all I really need.  A simple interface to see the forecast.  On my 800 x 600 display the words "Current Conditions" overlaps the date/time above just a bit.  Everything else is fine.

    Thank you!
