RE: [PlugIn] Web Media Release Candidate 1 (was Web Radio)

    Hi Lanwolf,

I haven't seen the behaviour you're describing when you play a music track instead of a stream. Media Center itself does the actual playback and the only thing I can think of that the stream you listened to was using an enhanched asx. I found that more and more internet stations are starting to use these (Garnier Media is starting to use them, the problem wouldn't be Radio538 or Veronica?) and the problem is that Media Center doesn't handle them well.

The good part here is that I'm working on a way to make that problem go away and while I'm looking into that I will also see if I can get the correct information from shoutcasts .pls files.

Another thing I already did is enabling the use off wildcards in the url, so if you have streams that have a date-part in them you can now use them too.

The next version will also have Triple tap support so you can add text with your Remote Control

And indeed when clicking the text on a button nothing happens... use the remote!

I will have to look into the installer to see if I can let the user change the description for the main menu, at this time it's hardcoded into it to be 'My Web Media' You can now change it in the registry however.

    Cheers,

    Danee

    Hi Danee,

I made a small executable to change the name of WebNews in the startup or More Programs menu, if you like I can easily make one for WebMedia as well.

RE: [PlugIn] Web Media Release Candidate 1 (was Web Radio)

    Hi,

I am probably being really dim here, but I just cant get this to work:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio1.shtml

I am using the following url for the streaming:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/realaudio/media/r1live.ram

I realise that this is a realaudio stream, but other people have posted .rams that seem to work.

I have downloaded real player, and it works fine in that, but when I try to run it in MCE it comes up with an error saying it cant run the url.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

    Kevin

MCE only plays windows stream extensions, like asx...doesnt support Quicktime(not windows), Winamp, RealPlayer or any other extensions that are not Windows stream extensions

Does this add-in have the ability to stream from sites where a user has to login with a UN/PW?  I am wanting to stream my Sirius account some how through MCE.  The address for the site is www.sirius.com/servlet/MediaPlayer

    Thanks,

How does one register at your site to be able to download the plug in?  I've tried three times and each time after clicking 'Send Registration', I receive a 'Page Not Found' error.  Would like to try the plug in, but not having much luck.

Well Danee, first of thumbs up for this nice plugin.

I have only one strange thing: I have 34 stations loaded in one group and when i want to scroll down through them then when the active button is the lowest on the screen and i press scrolldown again it scrolls one further down and then the active button resets itself to the one on the center of the page. If you understand what i mean, than you understand that scrolling down this way takes a long time.

Have you ever seen this, or have you any idea where i should look to solve this?

    Cheers,
    Az

    Hi Azkikr,

Yeah, I've seen this behaviour, it's a known problem. When a page is loaded the mouse get's centered in the middle off the screen (not visible) and when the list moves, the 'mouseover' event is triggered the same as if you moved the mouse over an object, so the focus is set. I've fixed that for a new version, although development is going very slow at the moment due to too little time to spare.

    Cheers,

    Danee

This is caused by the physical cursor being in the center of the screen about a button.

If you move the mouse cursor away from there, the problem is solved.

In my programs I programmatically move the cursor to the right bottom of the screen, so it can never be above a button.

RE: [PlugIn] Web Media Release Candidate 1 (was Web Radio)

How do you work those out?

I've looked arround the web player site and tried the URLs that I can see it using and none of them work and they don't end with ASX. Is there a way to extract the url of the stream from the web site?

RE: [PlugIn] Web Media Release Candidate 1 (was Web Radio)

    Hi Phil,

If the stream plays in WMP, just right click on the streamname (in the right pane) and click properties. That will show the direct url to the stream.

    Cheers,

    Danee

RE: [PlugIn] Web Media Release Candidate 1 (was Web Radio)

    thanks danee,

    Like this?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/radio4/live.shtml?fm

I guess this is a realplayer stream though. I guess listening to realplayer streams through MCE can't be done?
