I've just reinstalled TV Library on my fresh Vista install, but for the first time I can't find the registry entry. Could anyone explain why it might not have appeared in my registry? Or is there an alternate place it could show up?

Ditto. I have just installed this for the fist time, on Vista SP1, and I have to say the lack of instructions is not overly impressive - while possibly fine for people who frequent this forum and have spent an entire day reading this thread, it's not suited to anyone else because there's just no way to know what to do. I've gathered that I'm supposed to do something with a reg key, which like Jon has said, does not exist on my machine, and something with TV Collection Manager. I've installed TV Collection Manager, had it scan some stuff, find some details for it, and when I click "Export", it runs through a list of episodes and "fails" on every one. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any instructions on how to use it either, or if this is what it's supposed to do, or...

So would someone like to point me in the direction of some clear instructions on how to use this program, and ideally include them in future releases of the program so other people can use it?

    Thanks.

Sorry, I'm a complete idiot. I forgot that I actually needed to create the registry key myself. Please ignore my previous question.

Re: More TV for Vista - Feature requests

Hi Andy, thanks again for the great app.  I know you're busy, but I wanted to mention two bugs and a feature request.  My primary issue is that if a folder contains more than about 24 movies, it gets slow to navigate.

    1. Feature request: When you press the channel up/down buttons, make the movie list scroll by 1 screen (or 24 movies, or something).  VMC's "dvd library" works like this.

    2. Bug: Pressing a letter on the keyboard should cause the list to scroll to the first movie which begins with that letter.  This feature seems to work in folders where there are few files (where it wouldn't be needed anyway), but in large folders most of the letters don't work.  It seems like it won't jump to a letter which is too far away.  For example, if I'm presently viewing "M", the buttons for "N" and
"L" will probably work, "O" and "K" might also work, but the farther away in the alphabet it is the less likely it will work.  If I was viewing "A", "Z" will probably work (since the listing wraps and the Z's are on the screen).

    3. Bug: In the feature mentioned in #2 above, if I press "T" it takes me to "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane", which might be okay, except that the image of that movie is shown with the A's, not the T's.

What I care about most is to be able to get to a movie quickly, so for me fixing either #1 or #2 is the highest priority (since they both solve the problem).  Fixing either of the other two is less important to me.

    Thanks again!

Embed MCE on desktop with a small remote control in the sidebar to control the app. Features list:

    1. Size button
    2. Mute
    3. Placement button
    4. Record button
    5. Surf feature (play each channel for 3 sec. then diplay on a video wall for selection)
    6. On top of a apps. button
    7. Pause / Play button

What about a MCE widget? with a flyout pannel from the side bar chromeless border. embed MCE in the task bar

Re: More TV for Vista - Feature requests

Is there anyway to add a setting to enable or disable the delete button, I really dont want videos in my collection to be deleteable from media center. If I want to deleted them, I will do if from the file system. Also a feature such as "Watch Next" would be nice for a series, thanks for all the great work!

Re: More TV for Vista - Feature requests

I just came across this plugin, and I think it's exactly what I'm looking for!

I just don't understand how to use it! Can anyone please point me to a "how-to" a readme, or any sort of documentation? I have been using MyMovies, but this looks like it could replace that, and also perform the same function for my music videos and tv series.

    Thanks!
It just goes to show you shouldn't kneel down, grab the third rail with both hands, and piss on it from three feet away.

    Hi Zuke,
It's a bit tricky with this application and the thread is long. Have a look at this post

Re: More TV for Vista - Feature requests

I can not get this app to display metadata whatsoever...

Ive tried manually creating an xml with same file name as the video using the format suggested but it doesn't do anything. Does each episode need to be in a seperate folder?

Have also tried TVcollection manager but this simply doesnt work for me. I try to import data and nothing happens.

    Anyone?!

Re: More TV for Vista - Feature requests

I'd say you're better off going with one of the plugins that actually still has active support behind it.  TVCollection Manager is not going to work since TheTVDB has changed their API and Movie-XML is no longer around (moved to themoviedb.org).

If for TV, I'd stick to (no order of preference) JackLuminous' Video Library, Sam's Video Browser (using Salami's Movie Organizer to grab movie metadata and TVScout for TV metadata), or the pay-to-use myTV (it is strictly for TV also).

There is also MyMovies and OML, but neither of them incorporate TV very well at the moment.

Re: More TV for Vista - Feature requests

Great, thanks for that, will have a tinker with those. Would you recommend either of the free ones over the other? I've had trouble with mytv before so would like to try something else if I can

    Cheers

Re: More TV for Vista - Feature requests

Well, I prefer Video Browser since it's a little easier to manipulate metadata manually when needed (automatic fetchers aren't perfect).  JL's Video Library is a terrific automated application, but I already had my videos in their own folders and it requires more work to make it work with that.  It wouldn't be a big deal, but I have over 2000 movies and I was going to have to add a VIDEO_TS folder to each of them for it to work.  Plus, I just like having control over my metadata fetching (SMO and TVScout both ensure you have the right title).

I would try them both out and see what works for you.
