    dannybuoy:
    Basically, yes you ned a password. You should have a built in account named Administrator and this should have a password.  You would have been prompted to enter the password when installing the OS but if you didn't install it yourself you might not know it.  You can either use this Administrator account (so you can leave your main account password-less as it is) or add a password to your personal one.

    Additionally, you have to supply the username in the format .\Administrator or .\Bill.  (The dot inidicates the user belongs to the local machine.)

    If you add a password to your own account though, you might want to configure auto-logon so you don't have to type in the password every time you turn the PC on:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    AutoAdminLogon = "1"
    DefaultUserName = "Bill"
    DefaultPassword = "password"

    Please note that in Vista's Default install, the Administrator account is disabled, so unless you enable this account, you can't just use the administrator account. If you want to enable it (not really recommended), let me know and I'll post instructions.

    I personally use the autologin mentioned above (though that is the first time I've seen that method).

    If you aren't comfortable editing the registry, just go to Start - Run - netplwiz and you can enable auto-login from there as well.

    I've tried this app for a few days and love it so far.  I don't know if this has been asked before but will it work for tv series on disk and tell me to insert disk?  How's about series in .iso images?  Automount or selfmount image and go!  Not a necessity cause the app is killer as is.  Just thinking of the possibilities.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    It won't I'm afraid.

    It's been requested before though and it'll probably be implemented at some point, but currently the code is feature-complete and only fixes being done. Then it'll go on ice for a while whilst work is done on myDVD - so in the short-term it won't be possible. In the longer term it very likely will :)

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    Any help is massively appreciated for a start - I've purchased the software and I've posted this over at the MyTV forum, but wanted to check here as well.

    Have installed on a fresh Vista installation with My Movies. Got through the database renaming and the issue over not having a password set and it now opens up in media center. However when I open the app up it brings up the new shows detected dialogue box, takes me to the screen with the shows on it, brings up the summary and the graphic, I hit enter and moves onto the next one. When I get to the last it just stays on the adding shows screen with no shows to add. Hit back and it will come out of it, go back in and it repeats - ie. add hows dialog, brings up all the shows I've just added.

    From the old version, it's not saying "show added to db" as it used to so I'm guessing it's got a problem adding to the db

    Anyone else come across this problem? Or anyone have any solutions?

    Just had the same experience.  Did you install the beta version?  Check out my thread here:

    http://mytv.senseitweb.com/forums/t/1335.aspx

    After go through a bunch of stuff, I realized at the end that I didn't see the commands you need to run from an administrator controlled command prompt using netsh.  Make sure you have done this or it won't work on a fresh install.  I was pulling my hair out and then felt stupid since the directions were on the dowload page.

    Hope this helps.

    My god you can gloss over that - well I did! lol - thanks very much for the reply - now I have to worok out how to uninstall and reinstall - from memory don't you have to drop the db and do all manner of stuff to do a reinstall?

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    No need to drop the database or anything special like that. Just run the uninstall option from Control Panel, then fire up the installer and enter your correct database details as well as service username/password and it'll move along just fine.

    The database will be updated to the current schema with all data intact.

    Do read the instructions though as you will be (if installing 1.2.08238) required to rename/remove your old settings.xml file before installing. Fixed in code so the next release will be fine here. Getting close to an official non-beta 1.2 also.. Finally :)

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    Yup.

    Currently myTV is only available to betatesters and paying customers. The trial had to be removed due to changes we finally got around to doing at TheTVDB and will not be made available again until a week or two (enough time to implement the limiting code basically) after v1.2 goes gold.

    If you do indeed have the new version installed I take it you are a paid for and fully registered user? In which case you should check out the official myTV forums for support.

    And no, it does not say TheTVDB does not support our software (we're hosting them for crist sake), it says it's not supporting the current version of the software and you should update it. This is because we finally turned off the old tvdb API a little while ago, and only registered users have access to a fully supported client at this time.

    @ahelseth

    I see there are no downloads available from your site, if I pay via paypal will I have access to an installer now or will I have to wait until downloads are available again?

    Cheers,

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    Definitely. It is only the Trials that are removed - all paid users have access to the latest builds.

    I would recommend you take a few minutes to read up on the forums first though, to make sure it'll do what you want it to (it does for most people - and it should do for everyone in the next version), just don't want you to rush in head first as the Trials are currently unavailable.
