    So the myTV site has been down a bit now. I managed to torrent the trial version, but will there be any way to get a full version in the foreseeable future?

    Thanks so much!

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    Arne should have the site back up and running any day now, so if you can hang in there for that little bit longer.
    There will be a spanking new version available so i believe awaiting us all.

    Always willing to help.

    Woo!  Looking forward to giving MyCinema a test drive too when the beta is released, hopefully that's not too long now.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    icharbo: There was a bug with the previous build that would try to normalize your favorites even if the "Online" setting was disabled (as it is by default). Has been fixed and will now only do this every time the service starts (ie. whenever your computer reboots) or by receiving a Force Refresh request - and only if the accountIdentifier is set in a correct format.

    dzynz: Yep, as soon as the site is back up the paid for versions will be available again - as well as shortly a completely new build (just need to put a day or two into it once I have full network access again to make sure my code changes actually work as intended).

    As for the site - it may become available again later today, it seems my reprogrammed ADSL modem (with a 4-port switch) is able to correctly route from it's own subnet onto my servers and let everyone talk together. Not sure how well it's going to work, but it'll do until I receive my new hardware.

    Cool deal. You're hosting everything on your home computer? I'm curious as to why you don't just use sourceforge, google or some other service. Hell, I'd even be willing to give you a subdomain on my (albeit inexpensive) hosted account. Then again, I'm sure plenty of people in the community would.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    It's all hosted at 'home', but on a dedicated Windows 2008 Server. Used to run on a host, but it turned out to be easier doing it all myself, not to mention the speedboost the site got due to not sharing resources with other websites.

    I think, not counting the current downtime, the site has had better uptime since the move also :)

    But I may move it to a dedicated or virtual -server down the line depending on what sort of bandwidth usage the DB access takes.

    And the reason for not using google, sourceforge or codeplex is simply that it's closed source :)

    Someone a few pages back mentioned that they were having issues due to MyTV and MyMovies both being used.  Honestly, I had nothing but trouble with this, even after using the surface area configuration program, and ended up just creating a second database using the default SQLExpress or whatever it is name.  Everything's been much simpler since.

    Wow - I've been gone for the past 8 or 9 days in Acapulco, and this thread blew up!  I'm glad to see everyone is calming down since Arne made an appearance.  I'm looking forward to everything being up and running again with a new version.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    ahelseth:

    In terms of your original error (as reported over at the myTV site), that problem is caused by (as we've both known for a long time) the fact some episodes are watched/unwatched - the actual reason for the crash is the ScrollTo function invoked when rendering the Episodes page though - and I'm still unable to reproduce consistently (sometimes it works, other times it doesn't - some series more often than others etc), but it nothing else I'll simply remove the Scroll in the next build (unless I actually get a fix for it - few things I have to try still, but cannot continue development until I receive some new hardware).

    Okay... here is the latest and I relate this in an effort to help you pinpoint the source of the problem.  I never had the option to deselect the season selection screen until this latest install (as I downloaded the latest hotfix for SQL).  So, when I disable the season selection screen... I can open almost all of the series with the exception of Jamie at Home and WKRP.  I am trying to go into each season and select the first show as watched, but when I do that for some shows using the zero button, it gives me an error.

    This is SOOOOOOOOOOOO odd because I literally had the application up and running with no problem at all for almost two weeks while your site was down and then all of a sudden, it's riddled with problems again.  It was working with watched folders enabled, season selection enabled, etc.  Then, the other day when I posted, it just stopped after I added Family Guy.  I'm noticing that the application is really slow as of the last few installs (and I reinstalled SQL as well).

    Anyways, food for thought.  No errors in the log with the exception of one that stated publisher fault.  That's it.  Hope it helps!

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    It certainly is, although it is still unavailable from time to time (roughly every couple hours) as it has to be restarted due to a memory leak. Don't want to take it down to perform a "real" fix on this machine until I have something to fall back on, although within another week or so everything should be back to normal.

    Also, the new release is just around the corner for you commercial users - it will still be labeled as a beta, but should perform just fine. This will be followed some days later by a new public trial version.

    As always, any thoughts, comments or requests - please post them on the myTV forums directly.

    Thanks for everyones support throughout, hopefully this new build will be worth the wait :)

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    Arne,

    I posted a few pages back that I was anxious to see your site come back up so that I may try your software out as a likely purchaser.  I've used the trial now for a couple days and am quite happy.  Needless to say, my license fee is coming your way soon.  Keep up the good work and thank you for being an active developer and active in the forums supporting your software.  It makes a big difference to know that you are continuously improving and participating with your user base.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    OK I've been trying to install and set-up the trial for a while now.  I got through several problems during the install process from the info on this thread but I cannot get the service user account figured out.

    I keep getting the unable to start the myTV service please make sure the user account has been changed to a real  user rather than NT Authority/system.

    I cannot figure out how to change it to something that works and I don't really understand services and user accounts to begin with so all the info in the thread didn't really help me much.

    I have a non-password protected user account on my PC called Bill.  When I start it up it automatically goes to this one and I never switch it as this is the only one.  I understand how to get to the control panel -> Admin Tools -> Services -> and then double click on the myTV entry to get the logon menu to come up.  I tried clickin Local system account like most of the services are and that didn't work.  I tried entering in my pc name and profile in several different ways and I cannot get it to work.

    Is it the fact that I don't have a password?

    Can anyone help my understand what I am trying to do here?  Thanks.

    Re: myTV v1.0.08038c released

    Basically, yes you ned a password. You should have a built in account named Administrator and this should have a password.  You would have been prompted to enter the password when installing the OS but if you didn't install it yourself you might not know it.  You can either use this Administrator account (so you can leave your main account password-less as it is) or add a password to your personal one.

    Additionally, you have to supply the username in the format .\Administrator or .\Bill.  (The dot inidicates the user belongs to the local machine.)

    If you add a password to your own account though, you might want to configure auto-logon so you don't have to type in the password every time you turn the PC on:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    AutoAdminLogon = "1"
    DefaultUserName = "Bill"
    DefaultPassword = "password"
