    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Wow this thread has starting getting big,couple of things.
    I have the program in my startup folder but is there any way there could be a preference to start it minimized or just as a task bar icon only,I don't really need to get into the GUI at all most days and it covers up my pretty desktop picture every reboot

    You might want to put a PID lock on the app so only one instance can be running at a time,as at weird times by what I'm sure is my fault it has two of it self running making all the buttons work twice.

    This app rules! but good software comes from Nitpicking.

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Hi and thanks! Glad to hear you like it.

    You can define an XML command set (see the RWPlusMCE2005.xml for an example) for any application. However, currently there isn't a way to control the mouse or send commands just to the windows shell.

    Similar to the post from vsalyan, I'm working on a new release to control the mouse. Also it will determine which window is currently active and switch to the command set for that window. Currently, it sends the commands to all the running windows that have a command set.

    So, a long winded answer to say that shortly a new release should have what you're looking for.

    Thanks for the postive feedback!!

    Hi Acid! Ya, look what you started. lol.

    Great suggestions, I'll include them in the next release. And nitpicking is definitely appreciated. Thanks!!

    By the way, anyone know why the post from jpellingson keeps showing last in the list?

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    You can start the app minimized by going to Start - All Programs - Startup and then right click the x10Commander app. Next, choose properties and in the "Run" box choose "Minimized". Finally click the "OK" button.

    If you don't see the x10Commander app in your startup it's probably in your All Users startup folder. You can get there by right-clicking on your Windows "Start" button and choose "Explore All Users". Next go to "Programs" and then finally to "Startup". Then do the same as above: choose properties from the right click menu and then cange the "Run" box to "Minimized" and click "OK".

    Next time you start your computer x10Commander will start minimized. There are apps, some of them free, that will minimize apps to your tray. You might look on www.download.com or somewhere similar for "tray icon minimize". I'm sure you'll find a shareware or freeware icon management program.

    Haven't tried your application yet w/ this idea, but I know XP under the Accessibility Settings will let you drive the mouse with the keyboard, namely buttons on the numeric keypad. Has anyone tried enabling this, then configurethe mouse gadget on the remote to send numeric keypad keypresses?

    If not, I'll get around to trying it at some point, but if someone else is more zealous. :^)

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    That's cool! Didn't know you could do that. For some reason though it doesn't work with the remote. I turned on MouseKeys, and changed the mouse pad commands to below, but no affect. In any case, I've got the next release working with using MOUSELEFT, MOUSERIGHT, etc., macro commands so it'll be solved soon.

    <X10Command type="Repeatable" name="Mouse Right" keyword="MouseRight" macro="NUMPAD6"/>
    <X10Command type="Repeatable" name="Mouse Up" keyword="MouseUp" macro="NUMPAD8"/>
    <X10Command type="Repeatable" name="Mouse Left" keyword="MouseLeft" macro="NUMPAD4"/>
    <X10Command type="Repeatable" name="Mouse Down" keyword="MouseDown" macro="NUMPAD2"/>
    <X10Command type="Repeatable" name="Mouse Right Up" keyword="MouseRightUp" macro="NUMPAD9"/>
    <X10Command type="Repeatable" name="Mouse Right Down" keyword="MouseRightDown" macro="NUMPAD63"/>
    <X10Command type="Repeatable" name="Mouse Left Up" keyword="MouseLeftUp" macro="NUMPAD67"/>
    <X10Command type="Repeatable" name="Mouse Left Down" keyword="MouseLeftDown" macro="NUMPAD1"/>

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    i can't get this to work.  i am very familiar with computers, so I don't see what I'm doing wrong.  Please re-state the instructions, stating plainly only what needs to be done.  For example, I've already removed the registry line as stated, then installed x10 commander from  ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/applications/commander/xcom033.exe.  I've installed that, but what do I do now, with the other 2 files?  I've saved them in the same directory of the x10 commander, but my remote wonder plus is not getting recognized.  not responding in any way.

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Hi. I'm not sure if this is a mis-post or not. But the installation instructions in the original post don't say anything about a registry line and the download is also attached to that post, and isn't at the FTP link you list.

    Am I missing something here?

    Excerpt from original post:

    Attachments:
    1. X10Commander-bin-v1.2.2.zip - application executable.

    System Requirements:
    1. .Net Framework v2.0.50215 or higher. See http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7abd8c8f-287e-4c7e-9a4a-a4ecff40fc8e&DisplayLang=en

    Installation instructions for X10Commander
    1. Unzip X10Commander-bin-v1.2.2.zip and run the MSI and follow the installation instructions.
    2. If you installed to a folder other than C:\Program Files\X10Commander\, edit the X10Commander.exe.config and change the "CommandFiles" setting for RWPlusMCE05.xml to the installation folder from step #1.

    Anyone have a Windows Media player config file they'd like to share?

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    Attached is a basic config for WMP v.10. Feel free to improve upon it. You can use the "ATI" button to get to the WMP menu, and arrow\mousepad to get to the stuff that doesn't have a shortcut or a button mapped.

    You'll need to append ",C:\Program Files\X10Commander\RWPlusWMP10.xml" to your x10commander.exe.config CommandFiles setting.

    Oh yah, and I mapped the "record" button mapped to Eject the CD\DVD...that's just fun to do with a remote.

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    First thanks for writting that app and sharing it, that's great.

    I'm not getting it to work, so I'm looking for help.

    x10 commander works fine (As far as I know), but shows no messages. Nothing. Logging doesn't do anything either.
    The config file is updated with the correct path (installed on g drive not c drive). Is there any way to make sure the xml config file is loaded? That looks like this could be a problem.
    I also tried removing teh "p2" for the remote without any change.

    I've a dual boot setup and booting on the other XP with the ATI remote software installed and that one works. So the remote/batteries are ok.

    Only thing I did that might be "odd" is I did not install ATI RW software at all, just let MCE autodetect the HW and download the driver for it by itself. That's how I got the x10 usb driver for MCE.

    Any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance.

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    In addition to the USB driver, it appears that X10 devices need X10Nets.exe ("X10 Device Network Service") installed. Even though it's listed as "video streaming" software, if I stop this service on my system, my remote stops working with both X10Commander and the RW software.

    You'll need to either:
    1. Install the RW software on the other system, but remove it from the startup folder OR
    2. Figure out how to install just the X10Nets.exe. It's installed to C:\Program Files\Common Files\X10\Common, so maybe you can remove the ATI bits or download the X10Nets.exe from http://www.x10.com somewhere? Anyone know more about this?

    Good catch!

    Let me know how it goes and then I'll update the pre-reqs to note this software requirement.

    Thanks!

    RE: Remote Wonder Plus and MCE 2005 - a .NET app for X10 devices

    I installed the activehome SDK from x10.com and clicked on x10nets.exe (I suspect that step is not needed).

    Now it's working perfectly ! :-)

    Only thing, the range of the remote is low: either I've way too much interference with the computer or the (new) batteries are bad.

    Thanks for the SW (and for making it free ;-) )
