    Got it, thanks!
One thing, is there any way to use the numerical keys for text input?
It seems that with RW keyfactory the remote is simulating keyboard commands. I'm not programmer, but wouldn't it be possible via a plugin to actually send the remote control command to MCE 2005?

Thanks, just read it back. Seeing there are no more posts about it, I take it there hasn't been any progression made?

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

Nope, not AFAIK. I did the initial investigation, and generating the correct WM_INPUT:s shouldn't be too hard. Problem is that I am not a Delphi programmer so modifying RwKeyFactory is not my cup of tea.

[Source is available for RwKeyFactory so I reckon that would be the easiest path. But there are some other projects doing similar stuff as the RwKey apps so maybe there are other possibilities.]

So, here is your chance to help out!

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

    Hey all,

I have a desktop with HDTV Wonder that I recently turned into an HTPC with MCE 2005.  It's worked great with the kram drivers, and my ATI remote wonder is also working great.  I get analog cable (Cox) & OTA HDTV, and I've been thinking of switching to either digital cable or DirecTV.  I've read tons of posts about hooking up an IR Blaster to the receiver of the MCE remote.  However, I like using my remote wonder since it's RF and has an awesome range (the MCE drivers for remote wonder work great).

On to my question: is there an IR Blaster that connects to a USB port on my computer with will work with MCE & my remote wonder?  I can't seem to find posts about this.

    Thanks
    NOLA

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

Note that I don't own this product myself, but my impression is that you can use the IR Blaster(s) from the MCE Remote package separately, without being locked-in on using the MCE Remote. See f ex here for a description of the Microsoft MCE Remote package:

    http://www.pcalchemy.com/product_info.php/cPath/38/products_id/130

and you can see it bundles two IR Blasters. As the price is only $34 I wouldn't look any further, even though you also will be buying an MCE Remote you will not use.

Note that there shouldn't be any problem connecting both the MCE Remote and the ATI RW at the same time if you would like that.

    *Bump*

For text input using the RW, see my plugin thread.

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

    Hi Mike,
I followed your instruction but ...

"6) Select RW Key Factory in the listbox and go into its Configure. Use the Load configuration button to load the key binding file."

I cannot find the load configuration button to load the key binding file.  Could it be that my screen resolution has something to do with it?.  I see there's a .ini file in the keymaster directory, can the key binding file be defined in there?

    Thanks

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

The "Load configuration" button is located at the bottom left in the window with title "RW Key Factory Configuration". You probably need 800x600 resolution to see the whole window. Does that help?

    UPDATE:

Forgot the ini file; yes, you should be able to set up the key binding file from the ini file. My own "RWKeyFactoty.ini" (yes, wrong spelling) looks like this:

    [RWKeyFactory]
    ConfigPath=D:\mike\config\rwkeyfactory-mce2005.rwc

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks for response.
Not sure if the resolution is what preventing me from seeing the "RW Key Factory Configuration", that is why I couldn't find the "load configuration" button.

Anyway, I load the stuff on my work pc and I can see everything fine.  I'll configure everything here and just copy them over to my htpc.

BTW, there are 2 .ini files.  May be you can mention this in your first post so others with same problem as I have can edit them manually.

    Regards,

Re: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

    Hi Mike,
    All is well now.
Although I still cannot configure the software on my htpc due to what I think is related to video resolution (1280 x 1024 720p hdmi), therefore i just setup the software on my other machine.  When done, I just copied the .ini files over and that's it.

    Thanks

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

I tried to create the key binding file and loading the configuration, however, it doesn't seem to load the settings, and the remote doesn't work.

If you think there is an error with the file, PM me your email address and I'll mail you the file.

If you don't put more effort into describing your problem than this, nobody will ever be able to help you.

Re: RE: ATI Remote Wonder with MCE 2005

    Hi Guys,

I am an absolute newbie when it comes to MCE 2005 and I just recentely bought it.

I have a ATI Radeon 9200 All in Wonder in my machine and after emails back and forth found out that this Card is not compatible with MCE2005.

I am in the Process of setting up my Mediacenter until I get my new 9800 All In Wonder Pro and wanted to configure the Ati Remote.

Again, there is no other ATI Software installed on my machine and I only plugged the USB RF Receiver in and installed the 3-04_rw_enu.exe and whilst that got the following errors:

Now the question is how would I check that the USB Drivers are working for the remote ?

I installed RW Key Master as described in post one and tried to set my Remote to an ID but I can press any button and nothing happenes...

    Any Hints ?

PS: I could host the Key Configer File on my Webspace and attache the Link to it to this post if that is OK with the Admin ..
