    You are way off.

Until ther HDPC-20 comes out (IF it comes out) you can't record HD content from DIRECTV anyway.  So why are they in the Guide listing???

I am currently recording HD channels through RCA cables from the back of the DIRECTV HD box. I recieve ALL HD channels, they are just downconverted to 480i, but you still get the widescreen aspect ratio and current HD content.

I like having them in the guide, but since the channel number is the same, why differentiate between them?

Re: Vista Guide DirectTV Data for FoodTV wrong

The issue is in how the EPG data is parsed from ZAP2IT I think.

Firedog - Just an FYI CSICE is not a person but rather an ALIAS that the CSI (Microsoft Core Services Infrastructure) team uses. J the person you are talkign with just happens to be the point of contact.

Back to the issue... I have fixed channels 3x this week alone.

My wife has threatened me many times JT help us out before my wife kills me.

rgreenpc, thanks for the info on CSICE, good to know

my guide was good for the last 2 days and then I had to reset the channels again this moring. I have seen posts about this happening since november of last year, how is it that they haven't fixed this in 9 months?

Is the media center team (ehome) completely seperate from the windows team? Why don't they put out updates each month like the windows team? Instead they have to wait for a full fledged update like fiji to fix anything? I don't udnerstand and I hope somebody can put some clarification on it.

FireDog - Trust me I feel your pain... as to your question -

eHome is a seperate division from the Windows team.

Typically they have been tied to the Windows development cycle, but there are times when market forces (read:OEMs) or glaring bugs require patches. Sadly even when they do need to provide a patch it generally comes after a fever pitch has been reached.

While I don't use Sage I do watch their forums and I admire how quickly they address issues with their customers. Patches happen often and as needed to address issues... they aren't overnight but info seems to be given often as to the status.

I am sure someone from MS could comment about development cycles but as a rule they don't comment on products or fixes, the people here may not even be allowed to do that.

I love the product MS providea, but I agree patches come to slow to be practical. But they do happen, looking back I see a lot of KB based around MC, or DRM.

    csise:

Looks like there may have been an issue that caused some HD guide information on shared channels for DirecTv headends to go missing.  We are working to get this resolved as soon as possible.

I'm sort of stymied to understand how 9 mos without a cogent update, with multiple reports coming in, equates to "as soon as possible".

Perhaps we can have a more deterministic idea of ETA? I'm not alone in having to fix my guide *every day* because of all these lame bugs and data problems.

Yes its a PITA and this isn't an excuse... trust me I rarely make excuses for the people in Redmond...

But they have been focusing on an OEM product for a while.

Now that its out the door lets see if JT and the team can fix this.

That's fair, if something comes of this. I'll join y'all in a rousing "hosanna" if I can leave town without having to pull my NIC cable so my guide doesn't break. :)

rgreenpc, you mentioned they are working on an OEM product. I have read the other posts aboug f i j i and I can't get anything except speculation and a lot a ass reaming, but do you know why they would do an OEM only version? I don't understand why release MC as part of the OS and then go do an OEM only version for updates.

My guess (and its ONLY a guess) would have to do from OEM pressure surrounding the Olympics, as the release seems to be timed in time to get it to the masses.

Has anyone here in the last refresh had the HD shared channel schedule data go missing?  If so please post your headend, channel, and callsign of the channel missing data.

    Thanks

    Zip 60440
    Headend DirecTV

    Channels:

    7      WLS
    9      WGN
    212  NFLNET
    220  BIGTEN
    231  FOOD
    241  SPIKETV
    244  SCIFI
    245  TNT
    247  TBS
    265  AETV
    276  NGC
    278  DSC
    280  TLC
    299  NIK
    327  CMTV
    501  HBO
    504  HBOP
    537  SHOW
    540  SHOWP
    607  SPEED

These channels don't show as HD, but they are shared HD channels. I originally had them set to use the HD channel part of the shared, but after the first couple times of losing guide data I changed it to use the SD channels. The same thing happens whether I chose HD or SD, but only on shared channels.
