Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

With the Beta driver I also get slightly quicker stability when changing channels.  However it now seems to occasionally (once or twice last night) just stop the picture and go black which ever channel you try and change it to.  After it had gone black I put it to sleep and left a recording to happen and this seems to have recorded ok, so it didn't need a reboot to sort itself out as after resuming from sleep it palyed tv fine to.

I have only had last night to play with it so will do some more testing this weekend.

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

    RichardS:

My Cinergy 2400i DT was fine with my Asus P5B Intel P965 motherboard (although I've now changed it for a P5K Intel P35 chipset for other reasons) so it must be something else that causing the driver not to reload on wake.

There is a setting in the hibernate options concerning the PCI-E bus which I have turned OFF i.e. for maximum performance. Does this make a difference?

    Richard

Thanks for the advice. I have tried all the power settings for the PCIe power management, but all give the same result. I think I will try using older versions of the chipset drivers (currently using 10/9/2007 drivers.)

    Cheers.

    {edit} - Didn't work :-(

{edit 2} I'm using a 20pin PSU on a 24pin motherboard. i'm now wondering if those 4 unconnected pins supply standby power to the pcie slots.

You can't just plug the 20 pin connector from the PSU into the 24 pin socket on the motherboard - you must use a 20 to 24 pin connector so that all the connectors on both the power supply and the motherboard are used.

You can buy the converter for a few Pounds at places like Maplin (I bought mine online from them)but make sure you get the right one and not the 24 pin PSU to 20 pin motherboard version - it's not always obvious from the male/female definitions which is the correct one!

Got a 20 > 24 pin adapter. Still no joy. Also got my hands on another 2400i and that does the same.  Frustrating!

Even better for Linux users is this additional statement:

    >Find linux drivers attached. They come with no suppport. Please read the
    >README before you install.

I've been looking around for these linux drivers, and it'd help me a lot if you'd send those along to me along with the README

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

shame to hear about the terratec. I have been using this card in Oz on a previous rig and it works great. I also have a number of clients who have been using it with no reported problems. Im not sure if its a region specific thing, or something to do with the fact that I never have updates on, and only ever install graphics driver updates of something specifically related to mce/wmp

Maybe a system rollback to a time when it was working is the best way to proceed, if no one is able to isolate a specific update that has caused it. It's pure buggery when soething that was working previously ceases to do so !!

good luck getting its sorted...nice to see some international users on here by the way ;)

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

    Hey everyone -

I have had the same issues as all UK users with the 2400i card and VMC with post 255 drivers - however i checked back here (okay a month later than then they were released) and found out about the beta 283 drivers and thought I'd give them a try -

Anyway, basically they work fine, a channel re-scan is not even needed, although I did one just to make sure. So what ever caused the problems with ALL the post 255 drivers have been fixed. I have not tried a sleep/resume as I don't use this function, and can't really tell any benifits from the latest drivers other than they are new and I presume improved!

It only took just under a year! Hurrah!

that's good to hear... can you post a link to those betas, it'd make it easier to people that stop by with  a similar issue!

Sure, I think some one else linked to it on a previous page but here is the direct download link to 1.1.0.283 2400i drivers. The package has drivers for both x32 and x64 versions of XP and Vista.

In case the package changes, here is the 'beta corner' page link

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

good stuff  :)  Hope those new betas fix the problems for others to... a tuner is the cornerstone of a htpc, there can be nothing so frustrating than having a htpc which youve put $$$ and time into, and something like that pi$$ing on the parade...pure buggery it is !

    good luck ;)

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

I have managed to get S3 to work with these cards by purchasing a p35 motherboard. I guess the ECS p965 motherboard had broken power management.

I can get one card to work with the 255 or beta 283 drivers fine. However, has anyone managed to get 2 cards (4 tuners) working at once? I have tried the methods shown here; http://blogs.msdn.com/peterrosser/archive/2006/04/03/MCE_TechTalk_1.aspx , as well as using the application from this forum. But when i try to use the third tuner, VMC tells me to restart Media Centre or that the tuner is not working?

    Many thanks.

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

I have managed to get this working with three tuners any driver revision.  The way I did it was to use method 1 of this guide, but to get them all recording together I needed to copy the folder structure (I think the correct name is a hive?) underneath the following reg location from one of the configured tuners to the unconfigured one:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Video\Tuners\{GUID}\UserSettings\

    Hope this helps :o)

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

Thanks again. So, Just to clarify, you have 3 2400i's (6 tuners in total) and you copied the 'hive' you mentioned to the unconfigured tuners?

Did you use the basic 'regedit' to do this, as the only way I could do this was to export the values, edit them accordingly, and import them. Theres way too many values to be reliably typing them in one by one.

I tried this with my 2 2400i's , but still no joy.

    Cheers.
