Must be hacked - there is no VLK version of MCE. Only Tablet and Pro have VLK versions.

    Hi

Well, i put the girder on and it fixed my problem. great i thought...but it broke the IR blaster! Media Center is unable to change channel and so doesn't even show TV

i've rolled back to the normal driver and i'm back to where i was.

RE: Media Center 2005 on a Windows 2003 Server

    Hello again,

Finally got my MCE 2005 remote working, but just like turge, I cant get the green media center button to work. Has anyone solved this issue yet? I have no idea where to start and was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the subject!

    Thanks!

(BTW Running on Windows XP Pro and the remote is an OEM Microsoft 2005)

it was working before, wasn't it? What has changed since then?
By the way, I haven't tried, but Girder should still be able to receive events. Did you try it with the current driver? You should be able to disable all functions in Girder except for the green button to get it working.

Mr Turge, do you have any idea about my problem?

Do you use the IR Blaster?

RE: Media Center 2005 on a Windows 2003 Server

    Hey guys,
I'm very impressed with the work here and I was wondering if you could help. I'm new to the MCE scene and I decided to take the plunge and try this out on one of my other systems using XP Pro CorpoMy problem is the same as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, only audio when watching live TV, no picture, also the audio stutters, starts & stops.
Can anyone help, I think I've followed the instructions to the letter, recreating my filesets twice just to besure!
I'm trying this on a P4 2GHz (400MHz) with an sis chipset, drives are set to DMA before anyone asks also using a Ti4200 4xAGP (also tried Radeon 9200SE, same problem) SB Audigy2 NX, NVTV Dual tuner. I've tried both the WinDVD decoder and NDVD decoder and verified using the codec checker. Everything else, such as the GUI, DVD playback & radio, runs reasonably well (if a bit buggy).
As I said I'm new to this so step by step would be nice.
Any help would be appreciated, I dont want to go off and pay again for an operating system i already own!

RE: Media Center 2005 on a Windows 2003 Server

    no one?! wow

Well I lobbed the hdd from that machine in to my main rig (p4 3.2 (800), 6800GT, Audigy 2ZS), installed windows, updated, installed drivers, installed ndvd decoder. Disabled WFp nd SFC in to safe mode ran the batch, reboot...no live tv. Installed windvd, success! well kinda, got an NV4_disp.dll related BSOD when switching from radio to tv...me thinks driver related, thats a whole other topic. I dont want to leave that setup in that box as I use it only for games.

So I know the method works, that means its the hardware in the other system. I know people have gotten this to work using a ti4200 but I'm beginning to think that it's not powerful enough. Tonight I'm going to put everything in to the old box and try the 6800GT in it too and see if its graphics horsepower.

Again I ask can anyone shed some light on this.

If the admins think this is now in the wrong place (as I've figured out that the files and install method work) please feel free to move it to the right place.

RE: Media Center 2005 on a Windows 2003 Server

Hey guys, me again! most of my problems are now solved, put a 6600 and 865 mobo in to the box and stability probs have pretty much gone (except for getting the nvdvd decoder working!) anyway I was wondering if its possible to use a similar hack to that above to get tweakmce working on a non mce box?

    Hello,

How about the rollup 1 package for MCE 2005? I have extracted it and I am going to try to move over the dlls and such.

TURGE, how did you generate that ehshell.res file you created?

    Thanks,
    awgneo

I'll let you know how it goes.

RE: Media Center 2005 on a Windows 2003 Server

I'd second update rollup one. I tried doing it using the method above but obviously the ehshell.exes n such are different. The recompile worked but it wouldnt run correctly

    Turge...

Yes but do you actually know how this file was created in the first place?
    Why exactly is it required?

    Thanks,
    awgneo

I'm not sure. I believe Rafael is monitoring this thread though. You could ask him.

RE: Media Center 2005 on a Windows 2003 Server

This is definitely not going to work. RDP/TS doesnt support DirectX video acceleration.
