Re: MCEtilites v1.0 for XP/Vista MCE

I'm sorry guys, but the beta will have to wait a little while. I'm developing it from the ground up, with cataloging of Data CDs and Movie DVDs. There will be a search and a web-based interface as well, so you could mount discs remotely...

So it might take a little more time, but I wanna do this right... :)

I'll keep you guys posted. See the screenshots below.

Re: MCEtilites v1.0 for XP/Vista MCE

Hey Big-Gun,  is there a temporary fix for running MCEtilities V1.0 in Vista Ultimate in the meantime.  I have tried turning off Aero (which I assume is simply disabling transperancy?)  But can not get it to run stable.  I am currently running full version of Ultimate.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I have also tried MCEDVDID and Changer Explorer and neither will run stable in Ultimate.

Or do I just need to be patient Smile [:)]

    Thanks,

    Dwight

I have a feeling it's the toolbars I am using.

That's why, so there's no fix for now...

Hey Rick,  since you have integrated access to the DVDXML website, have you totally abandoned accessing the AMG website for metadata.  Personally, I would love to see the option for both.  I think both sites offer great material.  Some people fault AMG for the problem with a Changer bringing up the wrong data, but it's actually a Media Center issue.  I believe the metadata and cover art provided by AMG is really good material.

On another note, if you need a beta tester for MCEtilities on Vista, let me know.

    Thanks,

    Dwight

Still using AMG for a lookup reference. However, if it don't exist there, it can automatically download it from our website or dvdxml.com.

Bummer.  I was really looking forward to your Tuesday release.  My wife has been on me about the movies names so I guess I will have to use the MCEDVDID to name them all.  Thanks for all of your hard work.

Re: MCEtilites v1.0 for XP/Vista MCE

I know it's been a while with no news. I've been in the hospital, and so has my mother, and my girlfriend's father, so it's been real stressful lately. I am however working on it.

When I have news or info to share, you guys will be the first to know. I appreciate your patience.

    Thanks,

    Rick

Re: MCEtilites v1.0 for XP/Vista MCE

I'm feeling better now, I had diverticulitis. Mom and Dad are not doing that well, so thank you for your prayers.

Mind as well give you an update on my progress:

    1. Added button to click to mount the next blank DVD/CD in the changer
    2. Added "Folder DVD Burning", meaning each folder would contain the files for a DVD. Then using the Nero engine, meaning you need Nero installed, it would mount the next blank DVD disc, and burn that folder to a disc. Then repeat for as many folders you add.
    3. Other goodies to come...

Here's some screen shots from the new build for you

Screen Shot 01 Screen Shot 01 Screen Shot 01
Screen Shot 01 Screen Shot 01

NOTE: This being software in development, means that even though the screen shot lists things like "Rip Audio CD" does not mean that ripping audio cds will be included in the final product. Features may change, so please don't expect them. This is a work in progress...

Re: MCEtilites v1.0 for XP/Vista MCE

Ok, figured how to get it running on vista. This applies to MCEDVDID too.

    1. Go to start, control panel
    2. Switch to classic view (on the left)
    3. Go to administrative tools
    4. Go to Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Configuration
    5. Click "Manage the assembly cache"
    6. Click "Add an assembly to the assembly cache"
    7. add the sanddock.dll and sandbar.dll to it.
    8. close it

Once sanddock and sandbar are in the cache it runs on vista aero / glass.

I believe you need Visual Studio installed to see that Administrative tool.

Yep. I believe that's what is required. I have two Vista machines-1 with VS 2005 on it, the other without. I can only see the framework 2.0 under administrative tools on the PC with VS on it.

When I get home today-going to verify that, and see if I can see it with the VS Express versions. I could be wrong-but I'll check Smile [:)]
