Yeah, that's an annoyance I'm planning to get rid of in a later version, but probably not until the Vista edition. There's a 30 minute timeout before the Yougle software running in the background shuts down.

In the mean time, you can extend this timout quite a bit by playing with your registry.

If you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING (covering my own backside - you should only edit your registry if you understand that you could easily break your machine if you do the wrong thing), you can start regedit and under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Push-A-Button\BounceParse\Yougle" you can adjust the 'timeout' value. Set it to something larger - say 20,000 - and the web server will not shut down as quickly, allowing you to watch much longer movies.

I've seen this pop up once or twice, but I haven't yet been able to track it down. I found that going to watch a Google video, then back to a YouTube one would fix the problem.

I can't get any DivX Stage 6 movies to load.  All I get is this error message on screen:

The first thing I'd suggest is uninstalling and reinstalling Yougle - it looks like the automatic update may have failed to work properly. missing that important file.

If the problem continues, please let me know and I'll look into it.

I tried this and still have the same result.  I uninstalled Yougle, SHUTDOWN (power off for 30+ seconds), rebooted, erased entire push-a-button folder, SHUTDOWN, rebooted, installed DivX, SHUTDOWN, rebooted, tested DivX (works fine for videos on web), installed Yougle (latest from web), SHUTDOWN, rebooted, entered Media Center, tested, and BLAM!  Same error message.  Do I need to be running some form of webserver to get this to work?

Re: Yougle 0.5.0 (BETA) Released - Google Video and YouTube Movies for your Media Center

    Hi,

I've tried Yougle with my Xbox 360

It seems to work fine on my Media Center PC but on the Xbox it does not pass to the pages with video files.

For example , I click "Youtube Video" and wait forever. It does not come to view.

If I hi  "back" button , I see the video list for 1 second and then I get back to the main screen.

What could be the problem ?

    thanks

Re: Yougle 0.5.0 (BETA) Released - Google Video and YouTube Movies for your Media Center

HANSOLO:  Sorry this has taken so long to get back to you - I never got/saw the notification of your reply. As soon as I get the use of my development PC back (installing Windows Vista had completely destroyed my computer) I'll fix it - it looks like a file is missing from the installer!

ILKERA: Sorry, but as mentioned in several places (I think it's also on the download page, but don't quote me) - Yougle does NOT support Media Center Extenders like the 360. This is for two reasons.

       a) The method used to get the images from the Media Center to the Extender is WAY too slow. You tend to get truly terrible image quality and framerate

       b) I don't have a Media Center Extender (I was planning on using the donations for Yougle to buy one, but so far donations are few and far between) so I haven't been able to get it working on one.

Yougle V (The Windows Vista version of Yougle) is planned to have better support for the 360, as well as downloading the actual YouTube/Google Video movies to your drive.

Re: Yougle 0.5.0 (BETA) Released - Google Video and YouTube Movies for your Media Center

I'm TRYING to bring you guys a Windows Vista version of Yougle.

Unfortunately, I installed the Check/Debug version of Vista 64 on my development machine. This version is usually fantastic for software developers to use. This time though, it's garbage.

It has completely destroyed my ability to write software. I'm in the middle of recovering my system so that I can get back to it.

You may be glad to know that if the new version DOES work, we may be able to see..

       * Full remote control compatibility. Play, stop, pause, forward & back all working.

       * Download movies permanently to your Media Center drive and add them to your 'My Videos' collection

       * High-quality user interface

       * XBox 360 compatibility

       * Multi-lingual Buttons (since there's been so much interest from Italy and Germany)

These are PLANNED improvements. I can't make guarantees on any of 'em, but they are in production.

A word of warning though, this version WILL contain the advertising from the Youtube and Google Video sites. I'm not going to slam you with it (let's face it - what use is clicking on an add in Media Center anyway?) but you will get some advertising appearing on the screen when navigating the interface.

This is just to try and stop me from being sued when Google FINALLY get around to replying to the mail I've sent 'em and check out the plugin :)

    IgnoranceIsBliss ,

Sorry, I didn't notice the warnings about extenders in a hurry and excite.

So you say that it does not support any extenders. Someone in this forum mentioned that he was using it with his Xbox 360. Maybe I'm wrong...

Anyway, thank you. I was too excited to watch youtube on my tv. :(

Re: Yougle 0.5.0 (BETA) Released - Google Video and YouTube Movies for your Media Center

Hehe, I took an old PC of mine and threw it into a HTPC tower. It's fantastic to have the thing out in the loungeroom. It not only looks better than the Extenders seem to, it lets you play all the DVD's etc. without difficulty.

If you can, I'd suggest a living-room PC. It also lets you play your MAME games, Ultrastar, Stepmania and all the other cool programs that you can't get on an XBox 360. Well, an unchipped one anyway :)

Re: Yougle 0.5.0 (BETA) Released - Google Video and YouTube Movies for your Media Center

Nobody ever reads my posts :)

I was trying to get people to donate by suggesting that they donate to the project. Donating $20 (either as one person, or with a bunch of friends) gets a new source added to the program :P

Don't worry though - I had already planned DailyMotion in the new Vista version. With the new method of playing the files, I may even be tempted to include the JibJab comedy channel, if I can work out some of the complicated bits.
