It's also easier to hold down the left or right arrow as opposed to hitting it a hundred times. It's annoying when you have rather larger movie libraries. I'd like it to scroll gradually so you can still read all the upcoming titles, perhaps a scroll speed setting?

Will OML play ripped Blu-ray movies via an XBOX360 Extender?

Not at this time... to the best of my knowledge this is not possible with anything.  As more information becomes available about hddvd/bluray content in the "community" we're hoping to develop a solution to this but it would require a very powerful primary pc... and that will be a long way off.

So.... it sounds like you all are having scrolling issues.  This is news to me.  It does look like some kind of scrolling speed control would help with this.  We dont control this now and the normal behavior is to speed up to the point that no UI changes occur.  I'll add this to our list of tasks.

While it sounds nice to have an "all-in-one", single entry point app, it's just not practical. Unless you have menus within OML to separate Movies from TV from Music, you'll have to browse through your entire collection of everything when you just want to find a movie to watch. How does that make sense from a usability/user friendly perspective? Once you've branched it off to have different menus within the plugin, how does that differ from different menu options on the VMC menu?

In addition, having a 200-300 movie library is going to increase response times enough as it is... add several seasons of several TV shows, each with 12-22 episodes per season to handle,

It does sound nice doesn't it ;-)  Maybe not music... but I see the rest being able to integrate quite nicely.  And I think this would be BETTER for the bigger libraries.  Its when you start really using the filtering that this starts to shine.

Wasn't Tom Cruise in some tv shows?  Lets check the filters and see if I have any.  Oh look he was in several of these clips I have of SNL, oh and a special guest on a couple of these other shows.

I think most people would probably just start off with either with a TV or Movie Filter.  So it would basically be the same as two separate apps but with the other benefits.

But yeah, still would be way way way down the line anyway, so who knows ;-)

    Translucent,

You guys rock, it just goes to show what open source can do. Maybe we'll just start replacing VMC one by one till we dont even need it anymore.Smile [:)]

By the way I've been trying out the Amazon importer and seems to be working pretty well.

    Thank you,

Export more meta-data importers soon.  We've also just completely re-written the transcoding support which is now in testing.  This should be ALOT more stable and reliable then before.  Now its on to daemontools support (or possibly moving to virtual clonedrive) since that seems to have a great number of issues.  At this point we have about 4 developers working pretty steady on different areas so we're hoping to speed up our ability to both fix bugs and write new code.

You're looking at this solely from the point of the feature set, and not having any regard for the resource impact. Are you in sales, perchance? ;)

You can have meta-searches without jumbling everything into a single app.

My current collection has ~1200 TV episodes & ~375 movies. I'm nowhere near done ripping my DVD collection, but the time I'm done I will have ~500 movies, assuming I've not added any more to it. Do you honestly believe that you can lump all of that media into a single unified interface, and suffer no performance constraints? Filtered view or not, the app will still be aware of the entire collection even if it isn't presented to you on the screen.

In any case, I'm simply going to agree that we disagree, and move on. Have a nice weekend!

Does OML play BR folder structures? Say, if I point one movie to the index.bdmv file, will that launch TMT and play the movie?

@ bledsoe, another reason to scroll is that if you are on an xbox using the xbox remote, there are no number keys, scrolling is the only way.

That makes sense.  I scroll to look sometimes, but generally filter down some and click-scroll.  Even if it did work faster, I would need to go slower to see them.  Honestly, I thought you wanted to scroll to a specific movie and didn't know about JIL.

    working pretty well.

The next daily build, 08/17/2008 will include a MetaData fix from Taranu.  In the past if you had existing cover art, it would not save the image from the MetaData tool.  This will be fixed, and the image downloaded will be autosized.

I'll put the build up in 3-4 hours just to wait for anyone else to check changes in.

You can also select the Amazon website to use for lookups (US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan)

My libraries has about 1200 entries with meta-data and I see no performance hit at all. Once we move to SQL (we're in the process) we can handle quite a lot of movies/tv shows. Even now I'm pretty sure it handles thousands of movies with no problem.  We can also optimize it more if we start having problems but at this point the app should handle large collections quite well.

Does this mean OML will be able to read directly from a user's MyMovies SQL database?  The directions for this are outlined under the "Accessing Database" seciont here.  This would be very helpful for users who are migrating from My Movies, and/or are pleased with the meta-data that db offers.  Also, reading directly would cut down on databases (as opposed to reading the MM database, converting, & storing in the OML database.

Does OML support playing .iso files?  I click on "play movie", but nothing happens.  Is there something else that needs to be configured in order to make .iso work?
