can the 360 be used as an extender with any other programs beside VMC or MCE05? i know that nero 8 can stream to it, but that doesnt really work for me. Any comments would be appreciated.

You can use the Dashboard part of it, but not the technical extender. WMP11 will do fine.

OK, guess I didn't make myself clear. :P What i meant was are there any other media center programs (ie: mythtv, sagetv, ziipzap, etc) that support using the 360 as an extender?

Sorry, I thought my comment implied that you can use the dashboard with others, but not the extender part.

Ok, my bad... I guess I just didn't quite understand what you meant. But that leads me to another question. Whats the point if it can't play recorded TV and stuff? Or am I wrong about that as well? Clearly I am a little off point with this, but I have been under the impression that dashboard and the xbox's media center are two totally different things. If you dont mind clarifying, I would greatly appreciate it. I just bought my xbox not long ago, but with all the stuff I've read about VMC being so limited and etc., I have found myself looking for an alternative. I guess it would be a good idea to do some more research, but I'm so busy, I just cant seem to find the time, so I was looking for a turn key alternative.   :P    Either way, thanks for the response, and sorry if I sounded rude.
