UK - Vista MC and Sky STB

Hi guys, I'm just beginning my journey with VMC and lots of reading in this forum and lots of searches, I'm struggling to ge beyond 1st base.

How can I get VMC to switch from thinking the TV signal - where I've previously had freeview signals working fine - is instead now coming from my s-video port instead - where I have a sky digital box sending a signal.

Initially, I'm happy to change channels on the Sky box with the sky remote - i'll worry about blasters and the like another time.  Right now I cant get VMC to see my S-video at all.

I'd be grateful to anyone willing to help!

    Cheers,
    Christoff.

    Hi Christoff,

have you re-run the tv setup process, to inform VMC where your signals are now coming from?

If you need help with the rest of the setup, please ensure you provide details of how your computer is configured, hardware etc.

Hi Tony - thanks for your interest.

This is where I look a bit of a nonce!  Out of deperation I've taken my tuner card out, rebooted and reinstalled it and rebooted again it and its now sending me through the options for satellite, cable etc...  which it wasn't previously - I PROMISE!!!!

I've now got a Sky feed being received through Composite1.  However its not letting me past the IR blaster checks now, so I'm off to search for a hack or workaround to this.

Thanks anyway - they way it's going I'm likely to be posting other silly questions on here as I muddle my way through getting things up and running.

    Cheers,

    Christoff

    Hi Christoff,

I wouldn't worry about it, we've all done things like that in the past Embarrassed [:$]

Do you not have little IR blasters that came with your transceiver?  I don't recall ever being able to bypass these when I used to use them in my setup.

Tony - I've posted another query regarding my IR problem.

My PC came with an RF remote and has a USB stick RF receiver.  I dont recall any IR extenders being bundled, and they're long done if I did!

    Enjoy your weekend!

    Christoff.

Believe it or not, the answer to this many-times asked (and answered) question is, YOU NEED A MS INFRARED RECEIVER plugged in to a USB socket before you can select the external intput. No receiver, VMC won't see that input!

    Promise!

Go buy an MCE remote and receiver. They cost almost nothing.
