    Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.10 Release

I apologize if this question has been asked before but there's 29 pages to this thread so far Smile [:)]  My question is will this play WatchNow in VMC even though my system currently cannot play WatchNow directly from the Netflix website?

I called Netflix Customer Support and told them how my set up is; I have a ATI3650 DVI/HDCP with HDMI Connector to a Denon Receiver, then to a Panny AE900 Projector.  The Customer Repp. told me that due to the specific DRM that Netflix uses it does not support HDMI Handshaking.

I plan on watching WatchNow on my PC and a DMA2200 if I download this plugin, but will it work?

    Thanks,
    Dwight2001

Well, what I can tell you is that it does NOT bypass the DRM ... If I were to guess, I'd say there would be no difference in output - however, I've got the following setups to the same LCD TV and both work in my case:

    A) VMC to LCD TV via RGB

    B) Xbox 360 to LCD TV via HDMI

So, at least with my setup, I know the Xbox360 does play WatchNow via HDMI - however this is HDMI directly to the TV with nothing in-between.

Downstairs I've got a VMC connected via HDMI to a DVDO iScan VP30 to a Panasonic's PT-AX100 LCD projector.  I'll need to verify again, but I'm rather sure I got WatchNow working there.

Thanks for the reply, that's what I thought about the DRM issue.  Could you verify if it does work on your PT-AX100?   I'm not sure if your Scaler (DVDO) does handshaking like a Receiver.

Some receivers do have finicky HDMI behavior. Do you have other HDMI issues, or is Netflix the only one?

If you do have other issues, try asking for suggestions on the receiver section on avsforum.com. Also, any reason why you don't feed video directly to your projector (and audio to the receiver?)

For what it's worth, I have a Pioneer plasma connected directly to my AOPEN MP965-DR (Intel GM965 graphics,) using a 15ft DVI-HDMI cable, and have no problems with the plugin.

Just for a quick test I tried Shriek 2 and Shriek 3, both previews played.  can you have me an example of one that didn't play for you - and is this on an extender or the VMC?

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.10 w/ Vista Extender Support

Just installed the latest version.  I couldn't get it to run (Program Not Responding) when I installed over the previous version I'd installed.  So then I uninstalled and reinstalled, and it worked...

Nice progress, by the way...  Being able to specify bitrate was just the feature I needed to quit using MyNetflix...

I am getting a message while in vmcNetFlix to re-initiate the player which I have done many times and nothing changes. I can play movies w/o any problem. Could it be a codecs issue? Maybe if I go to the netflix site and try a preview from the site I can narrow it down, ya think?

I'll have to try that and get back to you EricL.

Netflix is the only HDMI Handshake issue I have.  I have seperate BluRay and HDDVD Drives and have no issues at all.  I have always passed Cyberlink BR/HDDVD Advisor Test.

    eluttmann1, thanks for the verification.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.10 w/ Vista Extender Support

A couple more bugs for you... Smile [:)]

When you exit out of one of the menu items at the bottom of the screen (i.e. Settings or Downloads) the top menu item is always selected.  Because of this, I always have a tendency to press the "Down" button on my remote, and then realize that the button on the bottom is also highlighted and is the actual selected item.

Also, last night I stopped watching a downloaded movie partway through.  From the "Done", "Resume", "Delete" menu, I pressed "Back" until I got back to the VMC main menu, then shut everything off and went to bed (or so I thought).  My PC wouldn't go to sleep.  So, I fired up Live TV on one of my tuners.  Briefly before the TV programming started up, I could still see the "Done", "Resume", "Delete" menu that shows when stopping the Netflix playback.  It appears that this may have prevented my PC from sleeping.  Who knows, maybe this is a VMC bug and not a vmcNetflix bug...

Yes, I've experience the same thing you have on this .. I'm currently revamping the UI and that is one thing I'll be fixing before the next release.

Seeing the screen and such is definately part of VMC's media player ... but preventing sleep bothers me though.  When downloading I attempt to notifiy the system not to go to sleep while downloading.  So it's possible that I caused this by not notifying the system correctly after downloading completed - although I'm pretty sure I do it right from what I can tell.  It isn't possible that you had another download in process, is it?

I've got another question ... as I breifly mentioned before, I'm currently in the process of revamping the UI a bit and right now I'm looking at merging the Main menu with the Gallery ... similar to the look-and-feel of how the Internet TV beta works right now.

Would you consider this a good thing, or do you like having the Main Menu separate from the Gallery?
