    RE: Voicemail App?

and here is a company that claims to use an external client to get vm from many providers. When I checked it out, the link to download was broken, but if it is real, it might give you sme ideas about how to directly access the vonage or other providers systems.

I would also love an app for vonage as well. With Vonage can we still use a modem for caller ID display?

    RE: Voicemail App?

Well, it looks like that app is finally available.  I checked it out and it connects to several servers for voicmail.  Chris Buenger, any thoughts of including this into TapiRex?  Looks to be pretty straight forward according to this app.

Is anyone working on 10-foot-izing this for MCE?

Very happy convert to SageTV! Finally, watching ESPN-HD in real HD on my HTPC without having to deal with the CableCARD fiasco!

    RE: Voicemail App?

My interest here would be to see someone build a self-contained voicemail server application that could run on a box with a voice modem. It would, essentially, replace my own answering machine. I don't want to have to use a third-party answering system like those available through Verizon or Vonage. I want it local. Then you'd have an MCE client that you could use to access and listen to messages anywhere you have an MCE machine or extender. I can't believe that nobody has written this yet!

    RE: Voicemail App?

Here is my 2 cents. How about writing an app to get the Voicemails from the E-mails sent by vonage, convert it to and MP3, Strip the Caller ID info from the Message body and add it to the Meta Data of each file, then write a MCE "music app" that will play the voicemails. The app would of course let you play pause delete etc. With the caller info as meta data the app could display the caller # a picture associated to the number etc.
Earlier someone said they can automatically login and even delete Voice mails so add a Sync button that logs in and deletes the voicemails that have been erased from the local machine.

Rather than converting the Wav's to MP3 the info could be stored in an external file.
I know this is all easier said than done my hat goes off to you for even getting this far.

    RE: Voicemail App?

I would prefer something which was local based on my own machine.

Howabout using something like the  thephonebot or mycallsoft type answering machine software and developing a 10foot mce client package?

Have there been any updates or work done on this application idea lately? I think it's a great idea and I know i could really use it.
