RE: My Guide to HDTV in MCE.

I am going to run for a few days with the starndard setup and make sure the channels don't increment.

After that I will add missing channels I might like to have in my guide. I will add them to my guide, but won't delete them, just uncheck them as you said. I did delete some channels previously, but did not recognize that was when the start of my channel incrementing occured.

After deleting the files and doing TV, guide and digital TV setup, I made copies of all the XML files. I should just be able to delete and copy over the fresh files from right after a setup if this happens again. At least I can test that. My XML files were down one directory further in a folder called prefs.

RE: My Guide to HDTV in MCE.

Apparently there are other causes of channel incrementing.

I have been running since July 21st with the channels in the 1000 range after deleting the XML files and rerunning the guide and digital channel setup. Last night on the 30th while MCE was running the channels incremented to the 2000 range and added all the digital channels to the guide. I did not remove / delete a digital channel and the system did not come out of standby.

I don't know what triggered this to happen. I wish I could identify something but I have not done anything to the system since resetting the guide channels to the 1000 range on the 21st.

Since Rollup 2 is due out soon, I just added a warning that the guide might not be accurate once its out warning.

RE: My Guide to HDTV in MCE.

I have updated the guide to hdtv to start reflecting the known changes with rollup2.  I expect a lot of updates over the next couple weeks and at some point I will merge the 2 gudies together to a new guide.

I am also thinking to writing a new how to setup and use hdtv with media center guide more in book form that will go into more detail.  Any book publishers out there?  I've never written a book before but would love to write a media center book.

RE: My Guide to HDTV in MCE.

I'm going to start redoing the guide tommorrow to include a lot more about rollup2 (not much, dont get excited) as well as breaking it away from a q&a session to a more guide like. Also a lot of pieces I never finished and its about time I did including a detailed how to point your antenna section.

RE: My Guide to HDTV in MCE.

I don't comb the forums like I used to so sorry for the long delay. I don't have the time to just make a book, however if someone wanted to publish a book like this, I would be interested in creating an outlne and discussing it. But I'm not actively looking for a publisher.

Also, I'm not keeping up with all the issues and fixes for various items. If anyone wants to take over the hd faq, be my guest. If anyone has any new information that I'm missing, please add a reply and post it, I will eventually get it into the first post. Good examples is announced cablecard in vista and 64 vs 128bit 5200 video cards and studder.

RE: My Guide to HDTV in MCE.

I've created an updated Kram Drivers install routine for the HDTV Wonder on MCE, which includes a download link to the Kram drivers, at http://www.hdtvtunerinfo.com/krammcehdtv1.html  I've tested the process several times and it's works great for me.  Would appreciate feedback, if anyone cares to try it, either here or on the site WEB form.

Re: RE: My Guide to HDTV in MCE.

FYI to those reading, the guys with the filters are the same person.  I see no reason to use a filter like this and their claims are false.  a notch filter will not increase quality.  Consider it spam.  I just haven't deleted the posts so you can see what I'm talking about.
