Thought that the 'Listy method' might work on the Vista drivers too, obviously not.

If i find anything else i'll let you know.

Nope! I'm having the same problem with the new drivers! I'm gunna send them another e-mail after a probably unsuccessful rebuild!

As Alan Partridge would say: "this country!!"

Hey, just a post to say I have the exact same issues as you guys, i've noticed it's related i think exclusivley to media centre, i used power cinema with diff driver releases, i found the only drivers that seem to work in vista and media centre are 2.55. very strange since they somethings obv broke in the later releases. I wonder if there actually is any kind benefit to the later drivers i can't/won't use anyway

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

    Hi Guys,

I am/was experiencing the same issue with some very choppy unwatchable channels of late (1.0.3.266 drivers).  As I am in the proccess of configuring my new Media Center I played around with a few things and then rebuilt it again (I refuse to tlet the wife use it before it is stable :o).  This time I installed the 1.0.3.255 drivers and the Power Cinema software.  It was still choppy (blocky) on ITV and Channel 4, so I tried it in MC and it was also choppy.  Then I decided to update the driver to 1.0.3.266 by going to Device Manger and updating the Bridge component with this driver (Right click porperties -> Driver tab-> Update driver), rebooted.  I tried Power Cinima and it was still choppy, then I tried MC and ITV and Channel were fine.  I set the tv to record over night put it to sleep and went to bed.  Heven behold it worked and the shows it recorded were fine.

Just for Kicks I decided then I had not updated the other two components so I updated these idividually and checked this in both pieces of software and the did exactly the same after each update.  They worked in MC but not Power Cinema.

Currently it seems to be working fine on all tried channels other than BBC Three (Which my Television seem so to play fine, so I guess it is not a signal strenghth issue).

So by installing the old 1.0.3.255 driver and then updating it to 1.0.3.266 driver I seem to have resolved most (not BBC Three) of the choppyness issues.  I haven't had the guts to rebuild the MC since, so I don't know if this will work for everyone.

I am using the Oxford transmitter and I have updated Vista with all the latest patches including the new reliablilty and performance ones.  Please let me know if this helps.

    Kind regards

The problem with the Cinergy 266 drivers is not so much stuttering (although I have a little of that which I think is related to the Nvidia driver) but the inability of anything newer than the 255 driver to receive any channels with a frequency offset using the Vista decoder.

The Oxford transmitter is a "good one" in this respect since the only muxes with a frequency offset are mux A (SDN) and mux B (BBC).

If you can receive five (5), abc-1 (15), QVC (16), Bid TV (23), price-drop tv (24), five US (35) and five Life (36) on mux A or BBC FOUR (9), Cbeebies (71), BBC Parliament (85) and Community (87) on mux B you seem to have avoided the problem somehow.

I would be delighted to hear if you have got these channels working.

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

Thanks for that Richard, you are right I haven't solved the issue.  To be honest I don't understand about the muxing issues, I will go and find out what muxing is?

After your post I went back and tried the channels you mentioned and I can recieve them on the Terratec Home Cinma software, but not in MC.  I am not to sure after looking at the rest of the posts, does it work ok in MCE 2005?

Sorry for any confusion and thanks for setting me streight :o)

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

No problem Phillj - thanks for posting 'cos it's good to know that this problem is so consistent as it removes the possibility that some of us have simply cocked-up our driver installation.

The offset frequency problem does not arise with MCE 2005. However, I wouldn't abandon VMC just because of this problem. If you install the v255 Cinergy drivers you should get a good picture on all muxes. I'm sure that MS and/or Terratec will come up with a solution which will allow us to update the drivers. Everyone knows exactly what the problem is so I can't believe that it can't be fixed!

Terratec have posted new drivers (283) http://supporten.terratec.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewsdownload&sid=551 Has anyone tried these yet?

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

Well, tried this myself with mixed results (32-bit Vista) :

    1. Upgraded existing 260 drivers. Scan took about 30 minutes, all channels found. All channels worked in Live TV - great! But, when I record one channel I can't watch/record anything else ('all tuners in use' etc.)
    2. Uninstall all Terratec devices using device manager.
    3. Reinstall 283 drivers, scan, all channels found but 'No signal' in Live TV
    4. Give up

I missed out the crashes/reboots/hangs. I think these are beta drivers for a reason.

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

I had a bit more success with the beta drivers.

There is a problem that when you update the Bridge driver the other two drivers do not update themselves automatically. I had to update all three drivers separately. However, having done this all channels seem to be OK and when I change channels the picture seems to stabilise almost immediately whereas with the 255 drivers it took 5 secs or so.

I've not tried any recording etc yet so I'll report back later today.

I don't seem to be having the instability which Martin has found although it's earlr days yet!

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

I seem to be one of the lucky few that the 255 drivers work for. However, when I resume my pc from S3 standby, the 2400i dissapears (not available for VMC and gone from the device manager), until i reboot the PC.

Is this a driver issue, or do I need to look elsewhere for a cause?

    Cheers.

The 255 drivers do work for everyone - it's the newer 260 and 266 drivers which don't.

You problem sounds like a driver problem although I've never had it with the 255s. Try updating to the new beta drivers mentioned above and see what happens. Perhaps also change the sleep/power settings for the device in Device Manager and see what that does?

I have exactly the same problem: when I resume my pc from sleep, the 2400i disappears. The newest drivers didn't help. I have tried several different sleep/power settings without any luck. I use 64bit Vista  and Abit Ab9 pro motherboard.

Tried the beta and 266 drivers with the same result. I have an ECS p965t motherboard. I hope there's not an issue with the 2400i's and Intels 965 chipset?!

Re: Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Stopped Working (UK)

My Cinergy 2400i DT was fine with my Asus P5B Intel P965 motherboard (although I've now changed it for a P5K Intel P35 chipset for other reasons) so it must be something else that causing the driver not to reload on wake.

There is a setting in the hibernate options concerning the PCI-E bus which I have turned OFF i.e. for maximum performance. Does this make a difference?
