Re: Introducing MiraWorldTV - Volunteers needed for V2 Release Candidate.
Looking forward to the more 'public' v2 release! This is a killer app for VMC. In fact, I think that something like this could be sold in the free market.
On a larger, more philosophical, global-societal level... I have a theory that this application has inspired me to conceive:
If more people had easy access to other culture's TV programming, there would be fewer wars in the world.
When I watch TV from foreign countries like Iraq, Iran, Israel, Russia, etc... it struck me that, viscerally, seeing other countries' TV shows connected me with those people in a different way than simply "intellectually knowing" that these were societies that have people, lives, dreams, entertainment, etc. The fact that I could "sit in" and watch their TV dramas, comedies, humorous commercial ads, etc. just hit me in a different, more human, way -- a way that I was not expecting.
Think of it as an variation of Friedman's Golden Arches theory:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Arches#The_Golden_Arches_theory
Imagine, if you will, if even 30% of the American public could easily just "click over" to Iraq TV before America decided to go to war. Imagine millions of Americans seeing commercials, sitcoms, dramas that dominated daily TV in Iraq back in 2002. Even if nobody could actually understand any of it, the imagery of "people" through a familiar medium (ie., their family room television set) might have just given many Americans pause before deciding to support a war strategy to solve America's problems.
Apoligies if geo-politics is not appropriate discourse for this thread. But, I just wanted to share my thoughts as I was using version 1 of this very cool application for an hour.
I just need to give this theory a good name...

Re: Introducing MiraWorldTV - Volunteers needed for V2 Release Candidate.
V2 is much improved indeed. I still wish you would adopt some standard Media Center fonts, styles, and colors. But at the end of the day it's your app - you can make it look anyway you like.
I wish the "source" would have more reliable feeds though. Is there a pattern that can be assessed? For instance, it'd be great if user-generated feedback would allow us to "know in advance" if a feed is not going to work. So much trial and error with the service that is being used...

JonDeutsch.
I agree the UI is not super pretty, I need somebody with better aesthetic skills than me :) but can’t afford it J
about the reliability of source, I am thinking of adding a feature for user feedback, wherein users can report the channel being broken, and it will be seen by everybody. Stay tuned.
Thank you for the feedback,
Makarand

Re: Introducing MiraWorldTV - Volunteers needed for V2 Release Candidate.
If you're sticking with the scrolling channelchooser layout could you also please add HandlePageKeys and HandleHomeEndKeys to your ScrollingHandler?
And whilst you're at it a TripleTap handler to allow for 'navigating' the list by tripletapping on the remote. Thanks ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)

Makarand, I'm not a designer myself, but I can cobble together decent looking stuff. Developing world-class interactive applications and user experiences is intergral to my profession, actually. So, I can also help with the GUI & info architecture if you want to collaborate. I won't charge a penny. Let me know. Thanks, Jon

Re: Introducing MiraWorldTV - Vista MCE plugin to watch worldTV.
Hello, is it possible to add in URL links to different Internet TV stations that are not listed on the http://wwitv.com/ website? So you can add in your own custom urls to other content you have found on the net, for example I'd like to access a lot of the thai TV on this site www.siamtv.orgThere's a discussion going on here about ways of streaming internet TV in MCE. Thanks

Re: Introducing MiraWorldTV - Vista MCE plugin to watch worldTV.
A little feedback for you.
I am using v2 version exclusively with an xbox 360 extender and I think it works very well. I agree with others that the look of the app could improve.
I'd tried the new beta but it does not seem to work with the xbox 360. Every feed would give the 'unsupported video type' error. Hopefully the final version will support the 360 as the interface is much nicer.
I would like a feature to add urls to the tv list, that would be great.
Keep up the good work.

Re: Introducing MiraWorldTV - Vista MCE plugin to watch worldTV.
Hi,
I tried MiraWorldTV. It looks very good. However it keeps installing itself on the TV+Movies Strip. Is there a way to remove it from there and just run it from the program library?
Thanks,
-Josef

I've asked several times in the past and got a negative answer. This is the only reason why I don't use it.
