Re: New Codec H264 for Live TV

I think everyone is waiting until someone to give this a go to see if it is really as good as it sounds!  If this works then it will answer a lot of people's problems.  Just goes to show that there is demand out there for this and it is a shame MS has not been able to produce results on a more rapid timescale.

    Hi,

I'm ready to test your product soon with DVBViewer and DVBSBridge for my DVB-S2 channels mapped as DVB-T here in Spain, but, just a question... You are talking about Moonplayer and the codec... Is Moonplayer a player that works inside MCE?

    Vista TV Media Center:
It s a player and a codec 2 in one. try and u will see

I'll consider trying it if you can answer the simple question if I can use it to view h264 broadcasts inside VMC (the media center) without using the player?

    DavidinCT:

I'd like to hear from anyone who has installed it. Any perfomance issues or Restricted content issues with it ? Is it easy to roll back ?

Maybe this is a step forward to getting the HD-PVR working in Media Center....

    Good point!

I’m in the USA. If I were to install this would I at least be able to play the H.264 files created by the Hauppauge HD PVR within Vista Media Center?

Re: New Codec H264 for Live TV

just installed the SW package, but HD is not working - but on the other hand you have already stated that in DK it will not work until the new frequencies for the few HD channels has been discovered.

while scanning via the moonplayer I founde the following for HD frequencies:

    K5 HD 474000
    NGC HD 690000
    TV2Sp HD 690000
    Disc HD 690000

    Hope this helps.

Re: New Codec H264 for Live TV

Perhaps you could work something out if you had sample “HD PVR” hardware to test with. If you contact Hauppauge they may be willing to send you sample hardware for development. I can assure you that if you could get this working to some degree in Vista Media Center that you will make sales here in the USA too.

For now though if you had a sample output H.264 file from a Hauppauge HD PVR perhaps you can test its functionality with your software? There are plenty of sample files floating around out there.

Re: New Codec H264 for Live TV

Hi We know very well Hauppauge, talk with them direct with ingeniors, and its why we have been developed a new TV Card. who is install in our VISTA TV MEDIA CENTER, we are thinking to release this car to the public soon, with out buy our TV. regading testing we have here all equipments to test MPEG4 H264, but we need a real test, as you see on the reply from one user in DK now he can see HD scan in our player but we need to change the Frequency to able see it .

if u can test in USA we can change frequency to. it will be helpfull for everyone.

we just need few days to make work this.

Re: New Codec H264 for Live TV

If you think you can get the “Hauppauge HD PVR” quasi functional here in the USA with your codec / software package / VMC software player plug-in, then I’m sure there would be no shortage of Hauppauge HD PVR hardware owners willing to test and help.

However, since the Hauppauge HD PVR isn’t a tuner there should be no frequency issues. Channel resolution is done by way of an IR Blaster. The signal is typically provided by a cable set top box or satellite set top box.

    Hi,

Excellent - I will await the new build and revert after testing with the result.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Re: New Codec H264 for Live TV

I bit the bullet and installed this.  What appears to happen is:

    • New "MoonPlayer" application visible
    • New video codec available
    • No indication of anything new in Media Center

Issues that I have in the UK are:

    • My twin DVB-S tuners are not detected (even though the twin DVB-T tuners on the same card are).  The tuners are visible in DVBViewer however.
    • When trying to detect DVB-T channels, none are detected.

So overall this has made zero difference to my Media Center experience so far.  Maybe it will work better for people with HD on DVB-T in other countries so that you can at least so if the codec support is there in Media Center.

    Alistair
