    Re: Logitech Harmony Remotes

    Hubie:

I figured out the issue here...i use my DirecTV Satellite under the "Watch TV" activity in the harmony remote.  I created a custom activity called "Green Button" which runs my xbox.  from here, (as you well know) i can watch tv, pics, music, etc.

Is this why, when i run the custom activity "Green Button" my remote isnt working right?

    uh
you know the lcd has a timeout, right?

if you tip it up, it'll light right back up

    Re: Logitech Harmony Remotes

i know that.  i mean the top 8 buttons on the 890 are blank (not black).  They should have things like "Recorded TV", "My Music", "My Pictures", etc, just like i set it up.

instead they are blank.  i created this activity from scratch, not from "Watch TV" preset activity on the harmony (i use directv for that).  That is why i am asking if this is why my remote doesnt default to media center keys once i run my activity "green button" which turns on the tv screen, the audio, and the xbox extender, which i want to control with my remote (without hitting device after the activity runs)

    Re: Logitech Harmony Remotes

the simple answer is you're doing something wrong, heh

I don't have mine sitting in front of me right now, and it's been a while since I set it up, so I'll have to check when I get home

but basically there should just be a simple webpage setup where you map each function from a particular remote to a button on the harmony (software or hardware buttons)

    Re: Logitech Harmony Remotes

Great thread.  I was able to set up my XBOX360 as an extender (configured it as a DELL 410 Media Center PC).

I do have 1 small glitch though.

When I am in the "Media Center 360" event which has my 360/receiver/projector powered on.  Upon switching to another event which uses the 360, the 360 powers off.

    Here is my use case:

    Device Notes:
    - XBOX360 added as a device
    - DELL 410 Media Center PC added as a device (using it for XBOX360 extender)

    1) Hit "Media Center 360" event button
    2) XBOX360 powers up (mapped to Green button within power on options), Receiver is powered up, Projector is powered up
    3) XBOX loads right into Media Center and everything works perfectly :)

    4) Hit "Play XBOX360" event
    5) XBOX360 powers off and stays off

Does anyone else have this problem?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Re: Logitech Harmony Remotes

I recently installed Insteon light switches throughout my home and got IR receivers for the Insteon devices as well... The Harmony remote has codes for the SmartHome devices ... I haven't completely figured it out yet, but we should be able to control the lights with this thing too!!!

    Re: Logitech Harmony Remotes

There is a way to change this in the options for that activity or the device itself. I don't have the software in front of me but there is a setting you can change to make it leave the device on when switching to another component.
