    TGB problems

What is wrong with this site? I have been trying to post replies in the forums and every time I hit the Post button I get a 404 error? I have tried from 2 diffrerent computers and it only happens when I hit Post. I can read an navigate the forums with no problem so it isn't related to my connection.

    Re: TGB problems

actually 404 indicates a client side error.  having the same issue from both computers points to modem/router or general connection issues.  when was the last time you power cycled your modem/router?  you might also see if your ISP has alternate DNS servers that you can use, i remember PacBell (now ATT) having unusable DNS servers and I had to use some third party addresses.

I used the term "404 error" as a generic term. I am sure it wasn't a problem on my side.

We heard one other report of an error a few days ago, but nothing we could reproduce.  Are you still having the issue?  It is possible there is an intermittent network hiccup.

    Re: TGB problems

I've had 404 issues when posting as well. Another symptom are Ajax errors when pressing the Preview tab. When finally successful the message will always go into the moderation queue as well.

Through a very long process of trial and error I found that the word "download" caused issues, and I wasn't talking about anything dodgy. Now, lets see if this posting gives any errors because I've used the magic word...

Oh, no. Preview tab works fine this time.

Hey Jeff, it happened about 15 times yesterday on 2 different computers. Woke up this morning and internet had been dead since 1:30am. Didn't get back up until after noon and has been flaky all day, so I haven't been in here much. If it recoocurs I'll take not of what's going on and post it here. Right now, all seems well. Thanks!

    Re: TGB problems

Sounds like you're having issues with your internet being available?

Beyond that, we've looked into the logs and didn't find much. We do see the connection attempts, but don't really get much more information than that.

We'll see if this clears up with the updates coming

Chris, it is not my connection. It appears to be something in the content that TGB doesn't like. I just tried to post a message in the thread you had me start yesterday and it did it again. I cut the text, put in the word test and hit post and it worked. Then I clicked edit, pasted the text back in and hit post and it is now there. Five times I tried to post with the original text and it would give me the error. I hope it is cleared up because as it is now I have to copy all my posts to the clipboard before clicking Post in fear that the same thing will happen. It is a pain.

    Re: TGB problems

I wasn't saying it "was indeed" your internet connection, simply pointing out the fact that it shouldn't be ruled out completely.

When you have this issue, do you notice anything different about the URL in the address bar? One of our considerations it that it may be a bug in the URL rewriting of Community Server 2.0 If this is the case, I refer to my suggestion that we hope it is resolved in the upgrade.

    Re: TGB problems

In case it helps, I had several 404 errors last week when trying to reply to a PM.  Interestingly my reply included the word 'download'.  Eventually I gave up and used email instead of a PM.

    Re: TGB problems

I'll check into the site settings. Maybe it's getting keyed off words in a filter list or something.

    Re: TGB problems

I'm still getting these 404 errors when trying to post.  It's nothing to do with my browser client PC -- I've tried different browsers, different PCs and different internet connections (including one in an internet cafe).  Same problem every time.

    Re: TGB problems

I was able to make that previous post to this thread just fine.  But repeated attempts to post a reply to a thread in the MCE2005 section in the previous 10 minutes resulted in the 404 message every time.

    Re: TGB problems

If it's any help, here's the URL that appears in the address bar when I get the 404 error:
