Jittery ITV2, ITV2 and Ch4

    Jittery ITV2, ITV2 and Ch4

After 2.5 years of working well, last night some of my live TV channels started being jittery - picture and sound freezing, blacking out etc. They are unwatchable. They are all on the same multiplex (I'm on Heathfield, DVB-T) - ITV1, ITV2, Ch4 etc. Other channels (eg BBC1 etc) are fine.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I've obviously rebooted, checked the aerial lead, resetup the TV again - and it is still not working. My TV, with a Humax box, works fine.

My PC is MCE 2005 (up to date, but not SP3) with a Hauppauge Nova T 500 tuner.

    Any help greatfully received.

    Regards

OK, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. It makes no difference, it is still jittery. It jitters when I use WinTV, outside MCE.too.

When I run the scanner, it shows the signal quality is 20%, whereas it was 100% last time I tried it in June. Strength for both is about 50%.

The BBC multiplex has a quality of 100%.

Any ideas at all? I'm utterly stumped, apart from throwing the TV card away!

    Do a system restore.

    Re: Jittery ITV2, ITV2 and Ch4

So I've spent the weekend battling with this. I've restored, and then restored back even further. I've uninstalled and reinstalled an earlier version of the driver. I've taken the base unit to a different PC and aerial socket and tried that. I've taken the tuner card out, put it into a different PC, having installed the drivers. No luck.

Well that isn't quite true. Sometimes it seemed to get a bit better, sometimes it was a bit worse.

So, to cut a 48 hour story short, I replaced the aerial lead from the wall to the PC (a sealed, shop bought lead, swapped for a short lead made by me), and I'm back to 100% signal quality (on all muxes, apart from the Film 4 mux, which sometimes drops to 90%). I've thrown the old lead away.

So I'm pretty happy - apart from the fact that I've spent 48 hours messing with the setup of my MCE box, so who knows what collateral damage I'll have. The joys of having MCE as a hobby!
