Slideshows play in VMC but not Windows Photo Gallery

I have a problem where my JPEGs will only show as a slideshow inside of Media Center.  I have WMP and Windows Photo Gallery pointing to the same folders as Media Center.  Both WMP and WPG will show the file thumbnails.  Double clicking the file in either application will open the file full sized in Photo Gallery but when I hit the Slideshow button in Photo Gallery, all I get is a "loading" message followed by a blank screen.  Hitting "ESC" sends me back to Photo Gallery but no joy on slideshows.  Confusing because the slideshow feature DOES work inside of Media Center which I was told uses the Photo Gallery engine to run the slideshows.  Another related issue is that I can no longer use the Photos option on the screen saver.  Same issue, I only get a blank screen when I have screen saver set to Photos (same behavior as inside of Photo Gallery).

I have tried all of the remedies listed in internet searches and Vista Support Forum searches (includes several different registry changes) but no joy so far.

Anyone else having this problem or have a remedy that they've used and worked?  Let me know.

    Thx

I know you said you tried other registry fixes, but have you tried this one?

You do not see pictures when you start a slide show in Windows Photo Gallery in Windows Vista

You are describing the same problem I had, and this fixed me up. Hope it helps...
