How do I keep single songs separate?

In my MP3 library I have hundreds of single tracks that are not part of an album within my collection. As such, they are tagged without an album name. Ideally they would not show up in the Album section, but VMC has a habit of assigning them album titles without my permission, and then my album section becomes littered with one track albums. I know that is problem is caused by an option in settings, where I allow VMC to get information about my media from the Internet.

Obviously I could turn this option off, but I like to have it for when I put in a CD, so that it recognises it. Is there a way I can get VMC to stop searching for information on certain tracks? So that they always remain unassigned to an album?

    Thanks,

    Jon

No official way of dealing with it afaik. I found it too annoying as I have loads of single mp3's that would display in media center as whole albums.

Gave all my singles the 'artist name' 'Various Singles'

Then split the mp3's into 4 album names, rock, hiphop, electronic and other.

Then used a mp3tag to copy the filenames to the 'title' name so mp3 titles were like 'ACDC - Highway to Hell.

    Varoious Singles\Rock\ACDC - Highway to Hell.mp3
