It has be suggested that this might be of interest here, so I'm reposting from a dreambox forum, if anyone has suggestions on who to take the signal from LAN rather than compersite that would be great, but here goes.
To start with I'm only feeding the analogue signal (sorry to disappoint
- when I have a chance I will write a full tut, but for those of you
that are waiting and iterested what follows should get you on your way.
I your already have MCE up and running, it will not reconize the signal
from the Dreambox starting that you are in the wrong area.
Go into settings -> TV -> Tuners - here enter your country as Germany.
Let MCE detect your stbs, say that you have a remote.
It will ask you to press 0 several times - it will not reconize the
Dreambox but will give you a option of training MCE to reconize the
remote codes, this is fiddly and tacks a bit of time as you have to
place the remote just infront of the sensor holding it very still and
press each of the numeric keys serveral times.
It will then show a small version of the tv screne and ask you to enter
a channel number (make sure you know the numbers of a few working
channels, before you start) if the channel changes OK you will then be
asked to test the channel up and down, if that works OK the tuners are
set up OK.
MCE will now go onto guide data and will ask for a postcode, you will
not be able to unter your UK postcode, as you have previously said you
are in Germany. So you cancell out, the settings for the STBs however
will be kept.
You now start again and enter UK as area, when it comes to looking at
the STBs there is an option to keep the ones already set up - this is
the option you need this time arround.
You will now go directly the Guide data setup and will now be able to
enter your UK post code to get the correct guide data downloaded.
And at this stage you would think that you were done, but your only
about 1/2 way through. The next problem is that the guide data is for
the official NThell channel numbers and the dreambox channel numbers
will be different.
So now on MCE go Settings -> TV -> Guide Data -> Channels
-> Edit Channel Numbers here you need to change all the channel
numbers to what they are on the Dreambox.
Now your done
