I have a few MCL files setup to stream radio from tinterweb. Sample file:
<application name="BBC Radio 1"
url="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/radio1/wmp.shtml?9all"
startimage="C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Media Center\Media Center Programs\Radio\r1logo.gif"
thumbnailimage="C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Media Center\Media Center Programs\Radio\r1logo.gif"
description="BBC Radio" category="1" companyname="The BBC">
<capabilitiesrequired directx="false" audio="true" video="false"
intensiverendering="false" console="false" cdburning="false" /> </application>
This works fine when using the MCE machine itself. It even works over a regular RDP session. But it doesn't work when played from an extender, a 360 in my case.
The icon shows up, the web page is browsed to, but it just sits there silently. I suspect this is linked with a comment in the SDK that says "Media Center Extenders do not support the use of Windows Media server-side playlists for content streamed from the Internet."
I'm struggling to understand the logic where Microsoft purposefully remove functionality that's in a plain vanilla RDP connection so just wanted to check if anyone had succeeded in getting audio streamed to an extender?
