Vista MCE - Vid Conf wizard makes MCE text blurry

    Hardware:

Standard Definition 37" Tube Television. S-Video connection.

"Whitebox computer" with NVidia Dual Tune capture and NVidia 8600 video.  All hardware (minus the hard drive) is previously known good.

    Problem:

Vista MCE - video configuration wizard in MCE setup makes the text and menus inside MCE blurry. I would like to "undo" the settings that the wizard changed.

    History:

Had a catastrophic failure of my HD.  Installed brand new HD, loaded Vista w/SP1.  Installed drivers. Installed Windows updates.

    Steps taken:

Opened MCE to begin configuration.  Right away I noticed the menus and the text looked nice and crisp.   More than I had been used too.  Less strain on the eyes to read.  Although, I also noticed in some of the fine-tuning videos in the wizard there was a little halo-ing.  During the TV setup screen it wanted to "Automatically" change the video settings to optimize it.  It let me preview the settings and each time I did this, it would go back to the same slightly blurry text and menus that I'd been unknowingly living with for almost a year.  I clicked No and told it to revert back and it did.  Back to the crisp text.  Very nice.  However, during the course of setup I had a problem playing DVDs.  The error (which I later found out was erroneous) indicated a resolution problem so I could not play DVDs.  In an attempt to fix that problem I decided to let the wizard "do its thing" and "Automatically" adjust my video settings.  So, the text and menus became a little blurry / softer then.  Much to my aggrivation this did not fix my DVD playback problem.  (I later figured out that this was a Codec problem and I resolved the codec problem with 3rd party software).  I don't want to take this too far off discussion, but I will express my frustration in that the MCE edition, that comes with an option to "Play DVD" is incapable of natively playing store bought DVDs... and that it gives you erroneous error messages about it.  Why can't they just be upfront about it?  Ok, back to the issue.  I would now like to revert back to the old settings.  I want to undo what this wizard did... however, I can find no way to do that.  I've played around in the NVidia control panel and don't see what it would be.

I would GREATLY appreciate any knowledge about how to undo those automatic settings.  My entire families eyesight would be grateful.... as I'm sure other people that are bound to find this post in a future Google search.
