Can you recommend a decent WM6 PDA / Smart Phone ?

Looking for a new Windows Mobile 6 device, PDA or Smart Phone etc, what are you using? What would you recommend?

Thinking about maybe a HP IPaq or something? don't really know what model I would want. Doesn't have to be a brand new model something cheap off ebay would be cool.

Would use it for basic telephone usage, texting etc and wanting Windows Mobile mainly to use with SideShow and the Media Center Gadget and basic Windows usage when away from the home, email / internet access etc.

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers.

I have an old xv6700 on verizon, and am waiting for the HTC Touch Diamond to come out on the 'big red.'

If you're able to test them, try to find one with decent call volume. That was my only real complaint about the xv6700.

I have the HTC Mogul.  My favorite feature is being able to broadcast Wifi.

Re: Can you recommend a decent WM6 PDA / Smart Phone ?

My favorite WinMo Device so far is my current, it's a AT&T Tilt (HTC Kaiser).  As for a recommendation I would stick with a HTC made device, because they are so easy to modify (see XDA Developer's Forum) and also I would definitely go with a WinMo 6 compatible device with touchscreen.  However, I would also go with a device with a Hardware Keyboard.  As much as I like touchscreens nothing will ever replace a good tactile keyboard.

On another note I can't wait for the HTC Touch Pro to hit stateside and the rumors are that it's going to AT&T to replace the Tilt.  The Touch Pro is the same as a Touch Diamond with 2 big exceptions;    It has a sliding keyboard and it has a MicroSD Slot instead of internal memory.

As far as software WinMo by default has great functionality with the exception of it's browser.  I currently use the 'SkyFire' beta browser which has all the functionality of the iPhone Browser.  I tried the Opera Mobile 9.5 beta, but it's way to buggy right now, maybe when they clean it up some more it might be ready for prime time.

I've also tried the SideShow beta and MediaCenter Gadget beta, they both work fine, but the UI really needs some work, hopefully the final version will fix these also.

I have the same phone (XV6700) comes with WM5 out of the box, spend about 20 min on ppcgeeks and find the Kitchen, you can upgrade it to WM 6.1....

I'm using the Tilt myself and quite enjoy it.  Before that I was using the 8525.  I will always use HTC devices just from the standpoint as even after the cell provider stops or never offers upgrades to the phones xda developers forum is always filled with new roms, usually a release or two a week so you'll get the most out of the device.

PPC6800 is good, HTC touch is awesome if you can get past the lack of keyboard.
