I'm looking at a surround sound / sound bar setup for my home system. I've currently got a Gateway FMC-901 and a Samsung 46" LCD (link to specs) with both the PC input and a 2nd HDMI input with a dedicated analog sound input (for a DVI-out). My question is this:

I plan on having all the sound go directly from the TV, via digital optical out, to the sound system. The FMC-901 has a digital out as well. If I run that into the Samsung, will it recognize it and do anything with it?
