I'm a couple releases behind, so maybe you've already caught this...

In the GUI, you have "Recent" misspelled as "Recient"...

Nope, hadn't caught that one yet ... just fixed it and it will be in the next release.

    Thanks,

    Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.9 Release

After using the newer install, I was able to start the vmcNetflix. However, I'm still having problems with initializing the extender. On my main account, when I logged into vmcNetflix, I did not see any option to initilize the Extender. I tried changing the setting for "Extender Setup Timeout", but that didn't seem to effect anything.
I did see that option when I started the vmcNetflix from the extender, but answering yes didn't result in anything. It was also unable to play the videos on the extender, but only show the main UI.
Is there some way to force-invoke the extender setup on the PC?

Note: I have tried rebooting the PC and restarting MCE multiple times, but I never saw the vmcExtenderSetup.exe in the process list except when I manually started it.

x64 works with this latest build. only had one issue that I wasn't able to reproduced. tested on two machines and both had the problem. After the application is installed, the application does not show up, even after a reboot. If you do a repair under the installer, (install over another installation and select repair), the icon shows up.

Now if only we can get the  FF/RW  to work.

Yes, I just encountered the issue you discribed above - it seems that if when upgrading existing (older) install, the application is getting de-registered but not re-registered with Windows Media Center.  Repair fixes the problem.  If you uninstall the older version before installing the newer version, the problem does not exist.  It does not happen on a fist time install either.

Just a FYI ... a possible workaround for now is that FF/RW works if you play a "WatchLater" movie.

Maybe I'm missing something about extender setup. Am I supposed to login into my netflix acct again on my extender as well?
I've tried removing any registry settings from the extender acct, but couldn't find the acct in the registry. Does the MCX account get a registry setting?

On the VMC account, delete the following file and run the vmcNetFlix app again.  You should then see a message indicating extenders can now be setup.  Also, before doing this, make sure you can view WatchNow movies from IE7 on the VMC PC.

    C:\ProgramData\vmcNetFlix_Data\vmcNetFlix_AppStore.dat

Then go to Settings->Movie Player->Initialize Movie Player button, wait for the dialog stating that the re-initialization completed.  Then play a movie to make sure it is working on the VMC PC.

After that, on the Extender run the vmcNetFlix app and go to Settings->Movie Player->Reset Extender button.  Then restart the vmcNetFlix app on the extender and you should get the extender setup messages again.  I'm assuming you want to "clone" the license, so select that option.  When you attempt to play a movie, if it fails you should get a popup asking if you want to re-initialize and attempt to play again.  Select this and see if it works for you - during the re-initialize you will see the "busy orb", don't do anything (it might take a while) then you should get a dialog saying the re-init finished and it will automatically attempt to play the movie for you again.  If this doesn't work, increment the delay one more time and try again.  if you are still having problems, send me the following log file to vmcNetFlix@gmail.com

    C:\Users\Mcx1\AppData\Local\Temp\vmcExtenderSetup.log

When starting vmcNetFlix, you will need to login to both the VMC account and the Extender account.  In both cases, you want to select the "remember" option, because the vmcExtenderSetup application uses those stored values when attempting to setup the movie player on the Extender account.

MCX does have a registry settings, you just can't access it easily from teh VMC account - you have to manually load it as a "hive".

    Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.0.9 Release

Eric, the new 1.0.9 is pretty much perfect! The sorting by title works beautifully:-)

It'd be great if you can allow the number buttons to be used to navigate quickly through the list - e.g. if you press "8" it goes to "T.")

    Thanks!

Which NetFlix package do you have ... based on the package, it only supports installing 'x' number of PCs at a time.  Mine allows 4 PCs

I have the one disc plan. Here's what it says:

1-disc plans may watch on one device at a time, 2-disc plans on up to two devices at the same time, 3-disc plans on up to three devices, and plans with four or more discs on up to four devices simultaneously.

I'm not trying to watch more than one device at a time, just the extender. I'm not even running MC on the PC, let alone the plugin. Do you think they really mean you can only have one device? Thanks...

What they mean by "devices simultaneously" is "installed on a device or PC" - Basically, the one-disk plan allows you to install the player on one PC per year (this gets reset in January each year).

    - EricL

Ok. I will upgrade to the 2 disc plan, get everything up, and change it back and see what happens. Thanks!

    Hi Eric,

Just wanted to let you know my Netflix account reverted back to the single disk plan and I can still play Watchnow movies on either my PC or extender. So basically I paid $1.83 to bump up my plan for a few weeks so I could install the two accounts, then changed it back, and still have two functioning accounts now that it reverted has back. I haven't tried simultaneous downloads nor do I intend to, because that would be against Netflix TOS. But at least I can watch a movie on either system without going through the setup each time I switch from one to the other.

    Dan

PS - Is the latest release of vmcNetflix still incompatible with fddshow? I haven't upgraded from 1.0.7.5 because of this yet. Hmmm, I wonder if when I do upgrade if I'll need to have the 2 disk plan to re-install on both systems. What do you think?

Yep, I was thinking of a few ways to do something similar - also planning to make sorting more dynamic as well (like thumbnail sizes are currently), so you can switch the type of sorting done on the page for the current gallery.

I have ffdshow installed and it still works for me ... also, if you upgrade (or uninstall old, reinstall new) it shouldn't effect any of your current settings. You should not have to re-init the movie player on either system.

Re: New vmcNetFlix Add-In for Vista Media Center

    Eric;

Just installed your latest version.  I have TWO BROWSE and TWO WATCH NOW.  Why?

Also;  In BROWSE not all the latest movies are showing up.  I have it sorted by date and "Georgie Rule" and "27 Dresses" are not showing up.

And then in the narative;  the Movie Time are all "0".

    Did something get messed up?

I'm not sure what you are referring to by "TWO BROWSE and TWO WATCH NOW", can you expand on what you are seeing?

I don't know if this is something new, or if you just observed it.  I've seen this before on some movies, but I've looked into it in detail yet.  You might try deleting the following cache files, then it will attempt to download the movie details from NetFlix again.

    C:\ProgramData\vmcNetFlix_Data\vmcNetFlix_MovieCache.dat

I think I might know what your asking here ...

A few revision back I added support for different gallery display options - Small (3 rows), Medium (2 rows) and Large (1 rows).  It initialliy defaults to Medium (2 rows) - and you can change the default in Settings->Gallery Options.  Also, you can dynmically change it in the gallery by using the FastForward and Rewind button on the remote.
